31  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask / Re: Black eye? on: June 07, 2013, 10:40:23 pm
I hesitate to post in this thread as it seems to be more about John's private life and not his professional one, but this thread does mention the Charlie Rose show so here is my review...

I loved the interview and wish it could have went the full hour.  It was great to hear John talk about the cabin he purchased and how this story came about...then hearing how John and Steven first got together, and of course how T. Bone was brought in.  You can tell all of them have a lot of respect for one another and while it took a long time to come to fruition, I believe they all enjoyed working on the project.

Great news.

Glad those that attended had a great time.  I am always a little jealous when John is playing in a too far to travel to location, but hopefully he will play some shows in the southwest at some point this year.  I would love to see pics if anyone has them.
34  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: JM Issues Statement on New Jack & Diane Film on: October 06, 2012, 12:34:37 pm
I understand John's frustration as Jack and Diane clearly has name recognition for 10's of millions of people, but other than being frustrated I don't think there is much legal recourse here.

I don't believe you can copywright song titles, album titles etc.  Case in point when Garth Brooks (or his alias) released a album called Scarecrow.

That being said, Jack and Diane is just a classsic, classic song.  I swear everytime I hear it I get as much or more enjoyment from it as I did the first few times I heard it.

I watched this with my 2 year old.  She clapped at the end.

John sure looked young then, of course we all did Smiley
36  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Mellencamp lyricist dies, is remembered on: September 10, 2011, 11:11:57 am
I agree about It All Comes True.  I typically include it on my own Mellencamp's Greatest Hits CD's and play it in regular rotation.

Back in 1999 I chatted with Moe Z after a show and he mentioned Minutes to Memories as his favorite as well.

39  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: George Green Article on: August 30, 2011, 11:05:25 pm
Good article.  Thanks for this.  Just another reminder for all of us that life is short even in its longest days.
40  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: George Green Is On His Deathbed on: August 30, 2011, 09:07:50 am
Very sorry to hear this.  I went to school with George's daughter Carrie Green.  George has written songs that have touched and spoken to all of us.
41  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Farm Aid Setlist **SPOILER** on: August 14, 2011, 04:53:01 pm
How was the sound live for the different bands?  I know in some of those big stadiums the sound system and acoustics are not so great.  I heard a good part of John's set on Sirius and thought they sounded great on there.  Still amazed by the way the reworked Walk Tall sounds and each time I hear the new version I think it sounds better.
42  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Meg and John in Cancun on: May 08, 2011, 12:16:53 am
Just missed him.. Ok missed by a couple of months or so.  My family and I are going to Cancun towards the end of July.

Better luck next time.
43  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Whatcha Think? on: March 16, 2011, 03:08:18 pm
I often think about how I would love for John to put out another rockin album like Uh Huh and Whenever We Wanted.  It's funny because when I go to one of his shows in my mind i want him to rock out the whole show and then he ends up doing some acoustic stuff which blows me away, and then i think I am so glad he performed that song accoustically.  I guess the only way to please us all is for him to play the songs both acoustic and rocking versions in the same show.

The past couple of albums have been great so I am cool if John does another in that style or if he wants to put out a rockin album I am game for that as well.
44  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Little Blurb on Vanity on: March 14, 2011, 12:18:09 pm
Didn't see this anywhere else on here but may have missed it.  This is a little blurb about the documentary "It's About You" that is playing before the shows and is debuting at SXSW.

45  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: What's John's best selling album to date? on: March 07, 2011, 05:29:22 pm
Not sure which one is his best selling. I do believe that he has 2 albums that have sold over 5 million copies- American Fool and Scarecrow I believe.
