46  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Where does John rank himself??? on: February 08, 2011, 11:09:08 pm
I am sure that many of us here would rank John as one of the all time greats.  I know John really respects people like Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, etc.

Do you think he would rank himself up with those guys?  Or perhaps he doesn't care Smiley

I believe he felt slighted the first couple of times he was passed over for the RR HOF and I think he thought it was a great yet deserving honor when he finally got in.

47  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Vote for JM! - IndyStar Poll for Indy Super Bowl half-time performer on: February 08, 2011, 04:57:07 pm
With it being in Indy, how could it be anybody but John?

No offense to the other hoosier in the poll, but Henry Lee Summer, does not have the name draw for this type of event.

Now, the RR Hall of Fame Hoosier- John Mellencamp, that has a nice ring to it.  I really hope this happens and isn't John a good friend of the family that owns the colts- and i am assuming that same family has some % of ownership in the stadium.

And sorry ladies, I wouldn't bet on a wardrobe malfunction with John.

Very funny.  A little self deprecation.

49  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: John on A&E Sunday, New Orleans Jazz Fest Appearance Announced on: January 23, 2011, 03:52:44 pm
Just another person chiming in about how great the show was this morning.  I loved the performance and the interview was good as well and I liked the stories john told, i.e. Dali Lama and I liked his perspective on the video/movie that is opening this tour.  I only wish this show could have been 2-3 hours with more performances and more interview.  All around a very good and interesting show.

The preveiw for the A&E show looks good.  I'll definitely have to see what time it plays in my local market and watch it.
51  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Los Angeles, CA / Re: Going to Los Angeles? on: December 23, 2010, 05:12:27 pm
I am in the Pit row 1.  Looking forward to the show.  I saw the tours 2nd night stop in Bloomington and this show has something for everyone, new ones, old ones, acoustic ones, hard rocking ones, etc.  I wonder what changes to the show or set list John will make on this leg.
52  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Bloomington, IN (1st Show) / Re: I'll Be At Bloomington on: October 27, 2010, 05:30:04 pm
Just saying hey.  I am actually going to the 2nd Bloomington show and if I am going by the number of people that posted in that forum, my wife and I may be the only 2 going to that show Smiley

Really looking forward to this one.  This will be around my 15th Mellencamp show and my wife's first one. This will be my first time seeing him in Bloomington.  We are coming in from the West Coast.

Earlier today I got a front row seat for the show in LA in April.  I am sure the shows are going to be great as John and his band always bring it.
53  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Re: Mellencamp Dylan Ontario CA concert on: August 20, 2010, 01:42:02 am
I was there front row, center stage (had a red IU baseball cap on).  The Dylan fans around me all thought Mellencamp put on a great show.  Sorry you had to sit by idiots.

It was good to see John although not as good as seeing him as the headliner (fewer songs), but I knew that going in.  It was a great warm up for the shows this fall and early next year.
54  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: Camera Policy on: August 13, 2010, 03:19:43 pm
I would also like to add to Tony's response and say that constantly holding up a camera/ cell phone camera and snapping picture after picture is also rude and annoying to the people around you.  A few here and there are fine, but people have paid good money to see the show and should not have their view blocked by cameras.  I have been at a few shows over the last few years and these issues are becoming a real issue at shows.
55  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: Second Show Added For Bloomington! on: August 13, 2010, 03:16:13 pm
I wanted to wait for the west coast dates next year but went ahead and bit the bullet.  I have a lot of relatives in Indiana so I got tickets to the Saturday Bloomington show and we are staying for a long weekend to visit family.
56  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: Fall 2010 No Better Than This Tour Announced on: August 10, 2010, 11:34:02 am

If you know/ can release right now do you anticipate some west coast dates?  I know before you mentioned that this seemed like it was all told going to be a pretty extensive tour.  And if you anticipate those dates, would they be later this year (Dec. I guess) or sometime early next year?

In the meantime I'll have to satisfy my JM addiction with the concert w/ Dylan in So Cal next week.  I am really looking forward to the show, the new songs, and it has been a little over 2 years since my last show.  Plus a front row ticket ain't bad.
