91  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Trivia / Re: Are You A True John Mellencamp Fan? on: September 28, 2015, 01:11:40 pm
Really? Thanks for telling me, I'll try to fix it. How many houses does he have? Lol
92  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Trivia / Re: Are You A True John Mellencamp Fan? on: September 28, 2015, 09:05:07 am
Cool! Thank you for talking it! Smiley But most importantly, did I get all the information correct myself in the quiz? I just want to make sure I didn't type any false information.
93  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Mellencamp.com Blog / Re: My Journey To Mellencamp By Susan Wagner on: September 27, 2015, 10:31:53 pm
This is such an incredible read, Susan! You are a great writer- but most importantly, I can FEEL and UNDERSTAND the EXACT feelings you've shared with us.
I'm only a 16 year old girl, but seriously, I LOVE and PREACH the words of John Mellencamp DAILY. I feel as if that the messages he writes in his songs are so important that they must be heard all over. And I try to show other kids my age the glory and talent of John Mellencamp's music, and I read them his lyrics word from word. I try my hardest to get them to understand and appreciate John's music, but they just don't seem to listen and understand. I seem to be the only young person who truly appreciates and takes John Mellencamp's words and music to heart.
I have not been a Mellencamp fan nearly as long as you, since I was only born in 1999. But I have been a fan for a while and I can't tell you how much I can connect, reflect, and LEARN from his music. I absolutely LOVE learning new things from his music. While I do find my education important and I try my very, very best in school- I find that the most important life lessons and rules have not been learned in school or even at home, but right in John Mellencamp's music. His music "plainly speaks" true words of wisdom and understanding that every person, regardless of age, needs to hear!
Susan, I could not stop smiling as I read your story, because you've completely captured the exact way I feel about John Mellencamp as a whole! I am so glad that somebody else also feels the same way about the Cuttin' Heads album as I do. Cuttin' Heads was the very first John Mellencamp CD I ever purchased and I've fallen in love with the whole CD- though it is not my favorite album of his, it's certainly on the top. (My favorite is Plain Spoken.)
I had the honor to see John live too, but I only got to see him one time. It was just this past June, and I had something similar happen to me like what John did to you. He did not bring me up on stage with him, but he did grab my hands THREE times! And he smiled and winked at me over 100 times- okay I swear I was counting how many times he winked but I lost track! (I was also getting lost in his sweet blue eyes! Ahahaha!!!) But it was SO INCREDIBLE! He even spoke to me right before he sang, "Cherry Bomb". I remember the whole thing- he knelt down right in front of me, smiled, and started to talk to me... and I could barely remember at the time what he said because I was so mesmerized by his smile!!! My jaw completely dropped... it was the best night of my life, hands down.
As mentioned above, I have a strong, emotional attachment to Cuttin' Heads since it was the first CD I got of his. I wrote him a letter shortly after the concert, and I sent the CD cover with the letter, requesting for his autograph. And guess what? I got it back!!! He signed the CD cover and he read my letter! It meant SO MUCH to me that I cried the whole day- and then I bought an expensive frame for it- and now it's sitting right beside my bed on my nightstand so I can see it every morning and night. And EVERY single night, I kneel down beside the autograph, and I smile and I say, "Thank you, John. Thank you." And then I make a wish... one wish every night before I go to bed.
And that wish is to meet him. My lifelong wish and goal is to meet John Mellencamp! Every birthday, I close my eyes and imagine myself having the honor to meet him- and then I make that wish and blow out the candles. I want to meet him so badly. So, SO badly, and I can't express how much I love him as a person and as a musician! I may be "positively crazy", but gosh- I would do ANYTHING to just spend even ONE minute with John Mellencamp. So I can tell him that I'm trying to get my generation to appreciate his music and I just want to give him a great, big hug and thank him!!!
94  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: John Will Be A Guest-Star On Fox's "Family Guy” Season Premiere Tonight! on: September 27, 2015, 09:04:17 pm
Ummm... you guys mislead us. I watched the entire season premier, and he wasn't in it. Are you sure he's not gonna be in a specific episode in season 14? Because you made it seem like he was in the season premiere and he wasn't- there was no need for me to even watch Family Guy tonight. I'm kinda disappointed because of the way you guys worded it.
I heard rumors that he'll be on the episode, "Peternormal Activity", which comes on October 25th. Is this true? Is THIS the episode you guys were talking about? If so, why did you guys have to mention the season premiere at all if he wasn't in it!? Why not mention the specific episode, if it is true? There are a lot of angry fans complaining and wondering why they got all ready to watch the season premiere and he wasn't even in it. You mislead us! Sad

I am SO EXCITED. I can't wait to see how they made his character- this is going to be absolutely hilarious!!! I'm so happy John decided to do something funny like this- I always though he was such a funny guy in his interviews! This is great!
96  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Question About Fan Mail Again on: September 15, 2015, 04:22:45 pm
It's fine, and I understand! Smiley
Oh, by the way- I'd like to say that I think it's very cool that John has a community where fans can ask these sort of questions and get quick answers from you guys. I don't know any other artist who has something like this! This Mellencamp community is such a good idea. With all of us Mellencamp fans here too- it feels really intimate and personal here. So I just want to say thank you for keeping this Mellencamp community alive; I know not too many people go on here but it's well worth it to those of us who do! Wink

Awesome! Thanks for clarifying. I just didn't want to go through all this effort to make something for him if I wasn't able to send it to him after all.
98  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Question About Fan Mail Again on: September 13, 2015, 04:40:59 pm
Hello, I have a question about fan mail again. So I was reading the directions on how to send John mail. The contact page doesn't seem to be clear on something. I want to send John some fan art (like a drawing or mini scrapbook, etc.) for his birthday which is coming up. I understand that only flat/small items are accepted. However, I don't want his autograph. I just want to give him some fan art. Can I do that? I will make sure that my letter and art follow all the directions just like any other letter.
99  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Tech Support / Re: Possible Problem With The Mellencamp Store? on: September 04, 2015, 12:40:31 pm
Ooooops... I didn't notice- I checked my Email again today, and I apparently missed the Email that was sent out about it. In the Email, they said that the manufacturer isn't making the product anymore. I must have skimmed through and missed the message. And I got my money back. Oops, I wish I would have looked a little better through my Email! Thanks for your help anyways, guys! At least I know his website didn't mess up.

101  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Tech Support / Possible Problem With The Mellencamp Store? on: August 28, 2015, 01:58:55 am
Hi there, I've been having a problem here with the Official Mellencamp Store.
About 2 weeks ago, I purchased 4 items: 2 shirts, a poster, and a bracelet. I purchased them all at the same time, in the same "shopping cart" under the same account. A couple days ago, I got the shirts and the poster together in one package, but I did not get the bracelet. I am worried because I thought that I should have the bracelet by now and it hasn't come yet. Does the bracelet come separate, or did they forget to put it in the package? What should I do if I don't get my bracelet at all?
Another issue I am having is signing into my account. I tried to sign into my account to purchase something at the store today, and it's telling me that the Email I am using does not match any accounts on their list. I've tried everything and nothing seems to be working. What's very odd is that I just created an account and purchased those items about 2 weeks ago, and now I am unable to sign into that account. Is this a problem with the website, or do I just have to create a new account again?
And, one more question if you don't mind... is it possible to see the receipt of what I ordered or at least a list of what I previously ordered? I'm sure you have to be signed in to do that, but is there a way? When I purchased everything, I bookmarked the page that showed me what I purchased. But when I clicked on that bookmark today, the link was broken/didn't work. If I don't receive my bracelet, and I don't have the receipt to show, that's not very fair! I know for a fact I purchased it. What can I do!?

Thank you,
Brianna
102  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: IMPORTANT MELLENCAMP FAN FEEDBACK NEEDED - RE ROLLING STONE on: August 27, 2015, 02:21:31 pm
That is completely stupid... John is such an underrated songwriter!!! I'm DEFINITELY gonna have to send them and email and request that John should be somewhere on the list. He deserves it! With all his incredible lyrics... very meaningful! Ugh- I can't believe Rolling Stone would leave him out. Even Johnny Cash called him one of the top 10 best songwriters!!!
103  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Unbelievable!!! I Got John Mellencamp's Autograph! on: August 19, 2015, 06:16:01 pm
This is truly UNBELIEVABLE!!! I am SO HAPPY!
Last month, I sent John Mellencamp a letter, telling him all about the concert I saw in Detroit and how it was my first time seeing him and stuff (I'm only 16, if I were older I would have seen him at LEAST a dozen more times). Anyway, I followed all the instructions on his website and you know what? IT PAID OFF!!!!!!! I got the autograph I asked for!!!!!!!! Oh my goooooodness!!!!!!!!!! This means that John read my letter!!! I am beyond ecstatic, I am actually crying. I HAD to post this here, because this is proof that John really does care about his fans and he is such a humble and AWESOME man and this is why I will always love him! I cannot believe how lucky I am to have gotten my CD back signed!!! "Cuttin' Heads" was the very first CD I bought of his, so I am so thrilled that he was able to sign it... it's going on display in my room forever!
THANK YOU, John, thank you for all that you've done! And thank you for taking time out of your day to read my letter and sign my CD. That means much more than you'll ever know to me!
This is such a success story!!!

104  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: New live album slated for July release ''Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood''. on: July 30, 2015, 10:24:03 pm
I don't think you can say John Mellencamp is better than Bruce Springsteen or Bruce Springsteen is better than John Mellencamp. No artist is better than another in my humble opinion, since they're all completely different people with different minds and different art and different fans. While both of them have been huge acts in the "heartland rock" genre, I don't really think you can compare them. Or anybody, for that matter. Either you like an artist or you don't, there's really no need to compare one artist to the other! Everybody does their own thing.
I also don't think you can say that one artist is more "successful" than another. If somebody thinks success is recording 40 albums and playing 110 songs in 10 shows, well maybe it is for them! But success for someone else could be just having 1 little record out. We all interpret things differently because we ALL ARE different and that makes it really difficult to compare one person to another!
John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen BOTH rock! Enough said! Cool
