MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Pics of John at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame 2012

Great pics! I was lucky enough to be there. John's speech was hilarious. He talked a lot about how Donovan "inspired" him. He used the quote sign every time he said the word " inspired". He said "you people in the business, and you know who you are, knows that "inspired" just means someone you stole a whole lot of shit from!". John was very passionate in his appreciation for Donovan. He even had with him his first album he bought of Donovans. He said, can you see that, pointing to the upper left hand corner of the album, that says Mellencamp. Growing up in Indiana that's how we kept track of our stuff. We didn't have a lot of money so we had to trade our albums around, but you always had to keep track of them". John and Donovan's performance of Season of the Witch was very passionate as well. They had a great time on stage together. John and Meg left as soon as he was done. They sat at a table with the other presenters, Bette Midler, Kid Rock, Robbie Robertson, Chris Rock and a couple other people I didn't know. Bette sat between John and Meg and Bette and Meg seemed quite friendly together. John smoked the entire time. He even had a lit cigarette in his hand at the beginning of the induction speech. He looked around to see what he should do with it then walked up to the edge of the stage and dropped it onto the floor below. Gotta love our JM!

I get to post the first mellenmoment on the new forum - does that count as a mellenmoment? Ok here is the real mellenmoment for today....I took my children zip-lining today for a grand time of hanging out in the trees. There were 8 total assigned to our group. We passed an animal skull hanging on one of the branches and our guide asked my son if he had ever seen a Jersey Devil. I quickly replied..."you mean Bruce?" One of the other guys in our zipping group (who I did not know) said he grew up down the street from Bruce and his buddies were always shouting Bruce this, Bruce that...like he was some kind of God or something but I was always like...Mellencamp baby! I about fell out of the tree! My son just shook his head and said..."he's one of your own".

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Nashville, TN / Re: Ryman

When the tour dates/venues were announced, I immediately knew I wanted to be at this show. The history of the Ryman speaks for itself, and seeing JM there....wow! I passed on most shows that were at least half the distance just to go to this one.
Luckily, after several attempts at tickets, I pulled up some that I think will do just fine!
I really can't wait for this show. I think we're in for a treat!
I had the exact same thought Paula! This is the show I am looking forward to the most. I cannot - let me repeat - I cannot wait for this show at the historic Ryman auditorium! COCO!

A new home and new ID. I use to post a lot on CCB in a thread that had some pretty HOT pics in it. ;-) Been a fan since '79/80 and was a member of CCB for 5 yrs. Found some great people there and am happy to see that they are making their way over to the new digs. I live in CA (Bay Area) and have been known to travel to some shows in the Mid West & hang with some of the best people I know! ~L
Leigh...you are using my profile pic! I tried to upload it several days ago and I couldn't get it to go! Then I got busy! Now I have to go back to the drawing board to pick the perfect picture! I still get to see more shows than you. LOL I'm Jane from Ohio. Lifetime JM fan - seems like it anyway. Seen over 50-60 shows (I think it's more but I have lost count). My dearest and closest friends are my mellencamp friends.
