Tony so excited to see John again here in Portland.  The last time he was out West, 2011, we had tickets to the Seattle, WA show.  We had been remodeling our home constantly for the 5 months prior, and were really looking forward to going to Seattle and relaxing for just a few days.  It was going to be our weekend.  We had even sprung and purchased those premium seats and got lucky enough to get a pair front row center seats!  It wasn't going to get any better.  Unfortunately the morning of the show just as we were getting ready to leave our home in Portland, we received a phone call that a death in the family was pending.  So instead of traveling North we went South.  So now what to do with the tickets?  With the help of another Mellenhead friend, we coordinated with the venue to gift them.  What I asked the person from the box office to do was to go to the absolutely worst seats in the house.  Seats so far up one needed oxygen to take a breath.  Find two people who looked worthy and to bring them up front into our seats.  The lady who helped us called back later and stated that she had done did just that.  As you recall, during that tour John showed a short film before the show.  She said when she went way up there, these people were intently watching the film, and that nobody else around them really was, that they were just talking and laughing.  She asked them if they would like an opportunity to move forward just a little, and they said yes.  She then described how excited that they became when they discovered that they were actually going to have FRONT ROW SEATS!  :-)  Jumping up and down and hugging each other. She said that the lady started crying at their good fortune.  She said that she checked back several times and that they were up having a great time; laughing, smiling, dancing.  It warmed my heart to know that despite the awful events of our day, that my husband and I had created some positive wonderful memories for somebody else.  I wonder how many people they have shared their story with, and I hope with it that they have shared the wonderful love that Mellenheads have for each other.  So now 4 years later, my opportunity to see a show finally here in Portland, OR!  I'm so excited to see John perform again.  I'm not so sure I can wait until next summer.  Thanks for coming to our little small town.....Kris Sell

Awesome story, great you got the follow up too, that's the way you pay it forward when life kicks out around.

Tony,
I am planning on attending multiple shows. However, I don't need all the extra stuff that comes with a Diamond Pkg just to ensure I get in the first 10 rows....is there an alternative to getting the "good seats" without all the extras?  Thanks!

There will be good seats in the presales, there will be a lot of people trying to also pull them, so the diamond seats could be a fall back or something you do selectively if you are going to multiple shows. There is no way to buy the diamond package tickets without the items. If you end up with too many items consider donating them to our Farm Aid auction for next year!

What type of seats will be available through the citi card pre-sale?  Is it all seats or a some held out for citi?

There will be seats of all types/locations/prices available in all of the various pre-sales. Depending on the show/ticket system I think each outlet has their private allotment, but then other shows it will pull out of a common allotment.

Only half of the shows are sold through Ticketmaster, the others are all smaller ticket selling systems. We will be adding ticket links to the tour page over the next few days for all of the shows as the ticket sellers get their pages built.

Password is posted if you are logged in 10 minutes before the presale starts (10am local next Tuesday).

Complete instructions are here: http://www.mellencamp.com/news.html?n_id=2031

If you read that you'll have a great understanding of how this work.

I have a quick question please.  I will not have access to a computer before mid-afternoon on September 16.  Will the special code still be available then, or only at 9:50 am?  I am interested in purchasing tickets for the Cleveland show on January 31, 2015.  Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my question, very much appreciated!!!

Is John aware his set list should cover at least 90 mins and roughly 20 songs? The premium packages (double the price in the past) for real fans to sit close is disappointing considering years ago when being in the fan club got you close for no extra money (and backstage passes to boot). Honest Working Fans would like to see a full show at a fair price - and even the chance to see two! But lately the short sets and high prices for fan club seats have been disappointing.

Of course I don't expect a response of substance from the fan club since it's fallen on deaf ears before. This appears to be about squeezing max dollar rather than about the fans anymore. A shame.

I caution you not to make any assumptions about the 2015 tour based on the handfuls of casino shows from this Summer. Those are an entirely different thing with different requests/direction from the casinos than what goes on on a regular full Mellencamp headlining tour.

While John has not revealed how he will structure his show on the new tour I think it's reasonable to assume that since the venues are very similar to the 2010-12 No Better Than This Tour that the show will be setup somewhat similar and the show length (which ranged from 95 to 110 minutes) will be similar.

The ticket prices on the 2015 tour (including the Diamond package) are priced almost identically to the 2010-2012 tour. There are a limited number of Diamond package tickets available per show, they do not consume all of the best seats by any means. There will be tickets in the front rows in the Mellencamp.com presale (the fan club ended nearly 5 years ago) and also high quality tickets will be in the public on sale too.

Change is part of the passing of time. Sorry that things are not exactly as they were 15 years ago, but that was 15 years ago. Sharon and I work very hard to offer John's die hard fans as many good tickets as we can with several different options.

Thanks for responding but I don't buy that it's the casinos fault for a short show. I've seen other shows in Windsor that were 90 minutes easily. I hope the show is like the No Better Than This tour as far as length.  My point was not about anything being the same as 15 years ago but rather that double charging for a ticket and soundcheck access to get close to the stage is gouging the real fans - something that didn't occur years ago.  It's too bad a fan club doesn't exist if it means real benefits for real fans - not pay double and we'll throw ya a bone.

Can you imagine having to sit next to this guy.

U have something against a real fan for many decades not wanting to be taken advantage of with short sets and double ticket prices to sit close?

The presale lasts through Thursday night once it begins next Tuesday. The password will be available the entire length of the presale on the TOUR page once you are logged in. The question as to if there will be ticket left in the presale is the unknown. But if we run out you might be able to try one of the other presales or try the public onsale.

Is there any probability that a Houston date will be added?  We are only the 4th largest city!  The closest cities have weeknight shows, making it difficult to travel to those shows.  No intention to shoot the messenger here.  Just wondering.  I have seen him many times in Houston, including the last time at Jones Hall.  By the way, the website says you guys are in The Woodlands, is that correct?  If so, must be unfortunate you guys don't get a show close by, like me!  Haha!  Thanks for your info, Tony!
