31  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: John's Favorite Protest Songs on: November 25, 2011, 04:32:22 pm
here is another good ole protest song from my day, true back then and still holds the truth today. john i bet you will remember this one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDkcbipclDQ

our generation got the attention of the government and we had the government scared into reality where changes that needed to take place took place and now what i see is this time in history this generation isnt going to remain passive. perhaps they are following our footsteps. it first started with 92 yr old pete seeger peace march awhile back regarding wall street. he sets a great example for those to follow and there are those who are picking up the mantle and carrying it on. some peacefully and some not.

i thank God for the musicians from my day (youre one of em john, your my generation) as long as we keep carrying the message and not roll over and play dead, the changes will come

keep the faith / peace & love

thank you dusty that you see john as a human being not a human doin. thats what these people are. its a reality. and there is nothing wrong in reaching out. it takes courage cuz one can set oneself up for rejection or acception. and in johns case i think he knows that very well. but like barry mcguire said at the concert i was at years ago as i mentioned above thats where its at. carrying the message

heres a  clip you may find enjoyable (and in fact even you mellenfan and rhonda may like it.) it contains barry mcguire singing a special song

Gods peace be with all 3 of you

33  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: meg's 50th party with john on: November 25, 2011, 01:46:06 pm
Marilynb cares about John like the rest of us JM fans. Freedom of speech is always condemned by others especially in John's early career. He pissed many people off for what he felt about things. That what makes him so special, he is a awesome man. Time will tell and pictures don't lie. We can only wish everybody the best and leave it in God's hands. Enough said.
shiela you are so right time will tell and its in Gods hands the safest place it can be. and i dont think John would have any arguement there
until this pattern that john has been repeating over and over again with women in his life, he will keep getting what hes getting no lasting relationship or marriage and there wont be a woman who would be able to stand a chance with him. john deserves to be happy joyous and free but only he can be the one that says enuf is enuf, its funny reading the articles how he changed the lyrics in small town "married a couple of woman................" or however he wants to rephrase that piece its there to read and at the end of the sentence of the song he sings "or is it just me?" hmmmmmmmmmm makes me wonder if he has been reading my posts. yep john doesnt have to keep doing this anymore if he dont want to.
34  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: meg's 50th party with john on: November 25, 2011, 01:19:19 pm
mellenfan, rhonda and dusty if you really want to see some real downright nasty insults, i would suggest very strongly and go to the first post where rene posted the article about the birthday party and read the comments that some of the readers commented.

what really hurts the most is when i read people dont care about a celebrity except that they only care as long as they write songs and sing them. you know i have worked with these people. at a christian rock concert barry mcguire (who is famous back in the '60s for "eve of destruction") said one time, that the artists can write all these songs, put their heart and soul into it, and the people come to the concerts, they listen and get all pumped up but he said he wondered how many were really listening and how many were willing to carry the message after they left the concert becuz people are screaming for rights but nobody wants to be responsible.

with that in mind you 3 have to ask yourselfs if john is a human being or a human doin?

uh huh john and elaine were together for 18 years. so what does that say? 1 year with meg makes all the difference?
judging by the picture of the owner of the restaurant, meg and the other gal, yeah they sure do look uncomfortable. looks like theyre all smiles to me. and theyre looking rite at the camera these 3 except meg is looking down with a big smile. yeah right
you know what? meg has not been in the spotlight for years. now all of sudden for the last year she is getting a lot of attention becuz she gets next to john (while he is still married to elaine regardless wether they were having difficulties or not, or getting a divorce or not) and then all of sudden shes in the spotlight. i pray to God that she is not using john for this purpose. becuz in my experience of working and knowing limelight people, this has been known to happen and it happens all the time. in fact its normal to use someone for those purposes. remember meg is an actress

im glad i made your day mellenfan. its always nice to put a smile on someones face.

what im wondering is where her freinds pictures and johns boys pictures. all i see is a cake, the couple who made the cake and john looking down instead of into megs eyes. i dont see any cuddling. body language says alot. oh i forgot and the pics of john performing in his concert.

and of course he booked in advance, he had a concert that night. but wouldnt you think that if john was really into meg he wouldnt of booked a concert on her birthday?

by the way i am including you in prayer with my prayer partners and i as we also pray for john. Gods peace be with you

looking at these photos, it doesnt look like john really put too much of interest in really making a great 50th party.  gees the cake speaks for itself. and the pics of the two together, john dont look like he has that "head over in heels "  beaming in love look

yes john my prayer partners and i are still praying for you. we still havent given up on you.

44  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: Fall 2011 Pre-Sale Ticket Questions & Problems on: October 25, 2011, 03:09:24 pm
I am glad you said something about the cameras Tony. All the flashing is very disruptive if John is to perform well.  I can testify to that, as when I used to work for a christian rock music station, one of the churches would have a rock show 2x a month.  The biggest one was when they had Barry McGuire (he is famous for Eve of Destruction back in the 60's and yes he is a christian) and the fans were so obsessed with their cameras noone could even see him.  I know that all the flashes were disturbing him, but Barry was gracious enough to finish out the concert.  In the christian music field he is well known for his hit called "Bull Frogs and Butterflys."  And he is such  a great artist and just one of the most down to earth people anyone could meet.  And he still sounds like the good old days  Smiley Smiley Smiley
45  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Introduce Yourself / The First Time on: October 18, 2011, 11:07:17 am
Back in the early 80's I was working with a christian tv broadcasting station and a christian rock music station where we had an outreach program for the young people.  At that time I was lets say I went from one extreme of hippy music to the christian music because I thought at that time in my life it wasn't good to listen to what they call "secular music."    But when I met my boyfreind (who I was going to marry passed away Christmas of 1995) turned me back around.  I had gotten rid of all of my hippy music and was comsumed with the other.  But my boyfreind had a better idea.  "How bout some balance here?" and I went for it.  I had been so out of touch with rock music my boyfreind introduced me to MTV and vh1.  Watching these clips I saw Tom Petty singing the "The Waiting."  It was love at first listening.  Still is.  Then when I saw John, I said "who the heck is this guy?"  Tell the truth I didn't like him at all.  I thought he was a Mick Jagger/Father of Soul wana be the way John was going up and down the stage.  I was sick of the "Jack & Diane" and "Hurt So Good" and "Small Town."  I turned John off everytime.  What made it even worse is when I found out he was married to a model?  Elaine Irwin?  Oh Lord I told my boyfreind "noooooooooooooo way."  Course he would just laugh.

Fast forward to the 2000's, no kidding, I was driving down the old country farm highway home from the Indian casino I go to on  occasion.  And the long version of "I Need a Lover" played.  I was hooked on that song.  They mentioned John Mellencamp.  I'm going who the heck is that?  When they mentioned John Couger as the original name I said "no way, it couldn't be."  Sure as heck was.  So I went to the record store and got the tape.  I listened to the whole tape and saw a few videos on You Tube.  Wow was all I could say and he became  one of my favorites.

As far as my hippy collection (well back in the 70's I was half cowgirl/half hippy  I used to own  horses) today?  Got most of the music back.  Won't get stuck on being stupid again and get rid of them all.  My generation is too pricless.
