1  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: John and Meg Ryan on: December 14, 2017, 08:58:32 am
Hello!
I've been seeing this too and it makes me happy for them! Pictures don't lie and every picture I've seen of them together (past and present) you can see the happiness. As John/Grandma Laura said best: "Life is short, even in its longest days!"

Happy holidays!

2  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: WRONG DATES on: November 08, 2017, 09:10:49 am
Not to me either. I'm just like you; those dates are attached to my life. I knew right away that the date for Lonesome Jubliee was off because I remember that it came out before I went in the Air Force and that it kept being delayed. I believe it was supposed to be released early August (maybe late July) 1987. I kept going to the record store to pick it up (I know I could have called but...) and every week it wasn't in yet. It got to the point that I would walk in the door and the store employees would stop what they were doing and yell "It's not in yet!". They were some happy people when it finally arrived! I was too.

Lonesome Jubilee was released before I went into basic training on Sept 20, 1987. I had my walkman and all my John Mellencamp cassettes with me but all of those items were locked in a closet the day you check in. Going that long without listening to John was terrible!

Best,
Lisa in Georgia
3  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Concert DVD? on: November 07, 2017, 09:29:47 am
I'd like that too. If you've read the book "American Fool" they describe John doing back flips on the stage along with the splits. I'd like to see some of the footage before American Fool and then after.

6  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: What's up with Rolling Stone magazine?? No "Sad clowns and hillbillies" review? on: June 26, 2017, 07:50:39 am
So glad to know I'm not alone in my thinking! I've said the same thing about both for years. It kills me that Bruce can do something John has done years before and then get praise for his "ground breaking" work. It may not be his fault but I can't listen to him because of that. Well, that's not entirely true, I cannot deal with his voice either!

I got the same impression about All Night Talk Radio!

I've got to go look at that wiki page now!

sorry about that. That does stink. I live out in the boon docks and we can't get internet except for satellite and it's useless.

9  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: John Intervierws on: April 18, 2017, 08:13:30 am
Yes! I'm also sure there's an interview where he said he was going to be a dancer in New York!

The original story is better. There was a contest on loaves of bread wrappers and his buddy worked for the company. He won the contest to get the money to record his demo and then he went to New York. I guess he could ask us if he doesn't remember something because we do!

Does anyone know where I can watch this?

Hello!
You should be able to watch it here:
http://www.cmt.com/shows/cmt-crossroads

I'm kinda disappointed that CMT has not shown it again. I think is really odd actually. It would be nice to see it again instead of the movie Brother in law for the 9 millionth time!

11  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Polls / Re: Favorite Video from the Scarecrow Album? on: April 14, 2017, 01:44:47 pm
Rain on the Scarecrow. Especially the end where he is singing then it switches back to the recorded version.

12  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Introduce Yourself / Re: My absolute favorite on: April 11, 2017, 08:13:45 am
I've been a fan of mellencamp since I was 5 living in Augusta Georgia my mom moved us to Seymour Indiana 24 years ago cause she thought he talked about Seymour so nicely I am a born Hoosier beech grove but john mellencamp is by far my favorite I love minutes to memories my favorite big daddy of them all 2nd but I couldn't list them really cause I could listen to any song any albums anytime
I find that my favorite song changes. I rotate the cd's in and out of my car. I've been stuck on Scarecrow lately. I love to turn up the volume on Rain on the Scarecrow so I can feel the drums in my chest. I am really looking forward to Sad Clowns and Hillbillies. I love Grandview!
Best,
Lisa
13  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Visit to Seymour on: April 11, 2017, 08:10:37 am
That's funny you are from Georgia cause that's where I 1st heard john I was 5 I'm 36 been living in Seymour 24 years now my mom thought he talked about it nice I lived in dalton Calhoun and Augusta just really can't remember where John started which town I know it was Georgia and I hope you enjoyed what I call my hometown now Seymour Indiana

I did! I'm hoping to go back and spend more than just a few hours bugging around! I live in Northeast Georgia. We are fairly close to South Carolina but not far from Athens, Georgia. Athens is a great music scene (REM, B-52's etc) and the home of The University of Georgia and the Bulldogs! I've been through Dalton a couple of times. My husband works for the Agricultural dept and Dalton is one of his areas so he knows it pretty well.

Hope you are able to see John this time!

14  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Video & Audio / Re: "Thundering Hearts" on American Bandstand on: April 07, 2017, 11:25:05 am
Watch him doing I Need a Lover on American Bandstand. It's a hoot! Not sure if it's still on youtube. I can't remember if it was in the American Fool book or an article where he talks about having to lip sync on American Bandstand.

Best,

Hello!
Yes, they did wagon wheel and hold my hand. It was really good! I thought Darius did great on John's songs as well! The only song John seemed to have trouble with was Darius' new song "What if I told you". They did that one twice. I can't wait to see it Friday!
