To the River - Human Wheels.  Very sad and dark album and this song just hits home.  It's Life.  The words are so true.

Golden Gates is one of John's best songs, I can't imagine how many times I have listened to this song.

I always thought Rooty Toot Toot was a great way to end that album. With the common thread of the average Joe having a tough time throughout TLJ, he finally gets a "break" Having the good time just hanging with his girl then the state trooper shows up to ruin the fun. But the trooper lets him go. I always thought that was a great way of saying things will work themselves out. A little bit of hope at the end of a "dark" album.

why is "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A." not included in the list?
I think that the orignal vinyl album songlist of "Scarecrow" is how it was planned, and here R.O.C.K. is the last song. "The Kind Of Fella I Am" was a nice b-side to "Lonely Ol´Night", before the cd version made it the album closer.

as an album is not a plastic or download thing for me, but a record with an a and b side, there is just no better last song than "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A.".
