I am in need of a few people to help John's team with a promotional activity at the Americana Music Awards on Thursday night at 6pm. There will be a reward and the possibility of being able to stay for the awards after you help with the project.

If you can be at the Ryman around 6pm Thursday night please email me at [email protected] and I will give you the details.

still no reviews from those lucky enough to attend this event??

I had already purchased tickets to this event, so working it was a no brainer.

We all met around 5:00 p.m., the show started at 6:30 p.m. There were 9 of us, total, passing out CD's. We split between the main floor and the balcony area, passing out CD's to all that entered, at the doorway. We had a few boxes left over so a few of us stayed and passed out the remaining ones afterward.

There are a lot of artists, both independent and signed, that attend this event. This one was a who's who in the Americana world, for sure. Jim Lauderdale and Emmy Lou Harris walked right past one of my friends that was working. Everyone seemed very receptive to receiving the complimentary CD. I even think the reception was warmer after the show, after hearing JM perform. I will relay what I think has already been reported, I'm still in catch up mode from my trip.

The show was kicked off by a performance from the house band. Roseanne introduced John, with John giving his little acceptance speech. He then performed "Save Some Time To Dream."  He was well received by the audience. Christine and I sat together. We stood and game him a standing ovation afterward. I have heard the Ryman's acoustics are spectacular. I can now testify that yes, they are spectacular, at least in the balcony area.

Also, while we were handing out CD's, one guy approached us,after we handed him a CD, telling us about his brush with JM. He said he had a photo (he can't find) taken back in 1978 or 79 where JM is wearing a Doors tshirt. It was a Philly appearance and this guy was some kind of buyer. I was pulled away from the story, someone needed a CD, but I ran into him the following night and I hope to followup on the story. He gave me his contact info.

Also, the following day, the Tennessean had JM featured as the photo that ran with their coverage of the show ( the article was also posted online), in their local section, but wanted to relay that it was JM's photo that ran, in living color.

It was a great night of music, and always a thrill to see JM.
