It is only touching to me

I have grown up in Bloomington IN, and have seen Mr. Mellencamp a few times around town, I ate with him at Schlotzkey's deli once, even though he didn't know it, and he passed by my house once either on his way to lake Lemon or maybe Brown County when I was getting the mail. He has nodded me at one time on Kirkwood Ave. when I was blaring Motley Crue or some crap from my sad little Mercury. What touched me most was that my father, who is 79 years old saw Mr. Mellencamp at the heart specialist's doctor, and he knew who he was. My dad is deaf in one ear and has no appreciation for music whatsoever, but he still knew. Is that a legacy or what?

I think its fantastic!!!!
My mother who was born in 1917 in Napoleon North Dakota (now John, that is a small town, one even smaller where my dad was born in 1910 in Lehr ND. Seymour would be considered a metro to these small towns) and she remembers when Lawrence Welk first started out up around those parts. When she was a teenager, she even danced with him. Now she is 94, one lady to tough to die, she watches the old Lawrence Welk shows and she goes back in time. My parents and sisters are all from North Dakota but not me, I was born in California the youngest, I am 56. But I remember visiting the small towns of North Dakota and my relatives still remember the good old days of Lawrence Welk before he became a big orchestra leader. And I must say now that I am older, I watch him myself along with my mom.
But like a close freind told me "fame is fleeting."
God bless you and your dad!!!
and yes John Mellencamp, my prayer partners and I are still praying for you
keep the faith / peace & love
