MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Niagra Falls
|
on: October 22, 2016, 09:46:19 pm

My wife's retirement gift was to see our man JM at Niagra Falls. She just called me with a very unusual report. Something wasn't right. I personally have been to 30 JM shows. My wife and I have been to many together. I wasn't at this one. She said he didn't feel good and was very argumentative with the crowd over cell phones. He cut the show off early. She said he only played about 50 minutes. She was disappointed but JM deserves the benefit of the doubt. I hope he is ok. This is very unusual.
My wife though was disappointed. She is a retired school teacher from GA. I am also a teacher so it's not like we have a fortune. Just all around too bad.

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: New live album slated for July release ''Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood''.

This is a JM forum, DB. And, JM is always greater than BS. Laugh yourself back to backstreets.
Of course it's a JM forum and that's why I'm here. JM is one of my favorite musicians. Just because it's a JM forum, though, doesn't mean we can make gross, erroneous statements like "JM>BS" because that isn't, never has been, and never will be true. They're both incredible talents but BS is on a completely different level that most others have to look up at; both in studio work and most importantly as it pertains to this discussion, live performance. (I will say, JM's studio albums have been better efforts than BS's over the last five or six years but six isn't many when you look at the last forty!) No worries. Thanks.

Official release or not ''apparently it's official enough for Amazon'' most of us have never heard this, or even knew of it's existence, if the audio quality is GOOD who cares, we can enjoy it until an ''official'' release comes along.
Bruce Springsteen has been selling his latest shows on his website. It is awesome. I wish JM would follow suit. After all, JM>BS. Brad S JM>BS? One of the most laughable statements I've heard in a long time. I almost considered reporting you to the moderators for this one. Also, what would the point of releasing every JM show be? The setlist is literally the SAME night to night. BS played over 110 songs in his 10 show run in Australia, last year. JM has only played 23 songs this entire tour (are we close to 50 shows, now)? How terribly embarrassing.... This is a JM forum, DB. And, JM is always greater than BS. Laugh yourself back to backstreets.

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Atlanta Show

Man the show was great. How great? Let me give you a barometer. There are 6 of us friends that go to Mellencamp and Springsteen shows when we can. I am hard core Mellencamp and another dude is hard core Springsteen and there are 4 that are neutral. The "neutral 4" are always saying Mellencamp was good but Springsteen was the bomb diggity. We saw Springsteen back in April and Mellencamp the other night in Atlanta. The "neutral 4" flipped and raved about how much better the Mellencamp show was than Springsteen. I, of course, agree. The show was fantastic. I have been to 29 shows since 1987 and this was one of the best. Thanks JM. You are the man. Brad Sanders PS I will be front row in Savannah in front of Wanchic. Give me some high knuckles

Oh, I would love to be able to have an MP3 or some other digital, original copy of Allentown from the Billy Joel thing. That was fantastic. That is the John Mellencamp we all sing about around the camp fire.

OK JM is my favorite of all time, times 10. But I like Bruce Springsteen,
Springsteen is selling all of his recent shows on his web site brucespringsteen.net
I have to tell you it is waaaaaaaay cool and awesome. I would like to see my man, John Mellencamp, do the same thing. Any thoughts, insiders?

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Tears in Vain

Perfect song except for the sha-la-la-la part. I cringe every time.
My interpretation of the "sha-la-la-la-la" part: The character has lost hope of his lover returning to him. He has even lost hope of her returning a letter. His thoughts are of hope that she will return a letter, but then his thoughts get so desperate and dismayed, "sha-la-la-la-la" is all can think to mutter. These are just my thoughts. You are welcome to disagree. By the way, I love Tears in Vain. Brad S

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Plain Spoken not produced by T-Bone?

There was early talk that T bone Burnet would return as producer, and some of the press stuff on the album has him on the project. I just read something that it was in fact self produced by John. What have others heard- I would be surprised if John didnt work with T Bone again, and would wonder what happen otherwise.
T Bone is credited on the new album as Executive Producer I hope this means T-Bone had little input. I really love the creativity of JM's sounds.
