Wow, that is an incredible story of perseverance and is really a powerful example of how John's music can touch people in so many ways.
If you ever make it back to Indiana, be sure and let us know! I'm sure there are a few of us that would love to meet you!

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Mellenmoments / Re: Minutes To Memories....

Minutes To Memories is the one song that made an impact on my life. Scarecrow was released when I was 15 and listening to that song moved me later on. My father is the best man I've known. And if I can be half the man he is when it is all said and done, I'd be a huge success in life. He made sure I always had everything I've needed and received everything I've ever earned (the good and the bad. LOL). When you're 15 you might not be as aware of how important your father is as you should be. Listening to the lyrics of MTM; and in particular the last verse, made me aware. I am 40, single and have no children. However, there is a boy that lived upstairs from me the past 14 years (he is 14). He never met his father, and his birth mother was never involved in his life and she passed away last year. The boy was raised by his grandmother, and generally had a tough go of it in his life so far. I've been active with him his whole life. Whether it's going to a baseball game, a movie, watching him in little league, pointing him in the right direction when he needs it, or just spending time with him, I just try to be there whenever he might need me to be. I really do not know if I would have been as involved with him as much if I did not appreciate my father so much. But the fact is MTM let me appreciate my dad. I am not certain to what extent I have helped or changed this boy's life, but one thing is certain he has changed my life. If I could say one thing to John it would be Thank You for writing that song.
SeaHound95, I enjoyed reading your story - thanks for sharing it. I'm with Paula, a young boy can never have too many positive male role models in his life, and it sounds like you are definitely a good one for this young man! Kyra

...and to those of you around me at shows, don't let me cry when he sings it.
yeah, well, we might be having to stop each other, Paula. I had the same reaction today on my way home with it.
I am loving this CD!!! i mean LOVING it! OMG, I can't wait to hear some of these songs live. I'm sure I'll be crying all the way through, just because the sound is so raw, so real, so alive. I can't wait to FEEL it like you can only do at a live performance. I can't get that at home or in my car.

OK, since nobody else has answered I will do the honors!!
No Better Than This was recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis; the First African Baptist Church in Savannah; and a hotel room in San Antonio where Robert Johnson cut some classic sides. These locations are all significant in the roots of rock and roll and folk music.

Bummer! I really enjoyed.
Aw, dang!!!! I really liked it, too! There was a lot of stuff I would hear that I don't have in my collection yet (and after the $$ I spent today on tickets it may be a while longer before I add to my collection, lol)!!

We will be in Row E. Same thing happened when I was buying. I wasn't trying to get premium tix, but when I first logged on I was getting Rows L, M, O, then I got J, so I bough those. Then I went back and E popped up so I got those, too. I was pretty happy with E; they're on the outside aisle. I thought it was tough getting good seats this time. Even looking at singles.
Thank you Kyra for taking care of me today! I hate when work gets in the way of my fun! Of course you know I always will if you need me to!!!

I forgot about ticket sale until 75 minutes after the start but I managed to get two in Row L. I believe that this is my first greater than 100 dollars for a regular ticket that I paid for. I got two gold tickets at Terre Haute in 2005 and I think they were 125.00 but my birthday is a week after the Clowes Hall show and it is far better than Hinkle in terms of sound so I am pleased to be going to the one show. I will considered it my birthday gift. Will there be chances to win meet & greets like at CCB? I have yet to win but you never know. I have that Zepp song lyric in my head "Your time is going to come" Brian Brian, if there is a MeetnGreet, I hope your time is now!! Looking forward to seeing you at Clowes. And i totally agree. Barb & I are going to be there and really didn't want to have to go to Hinkle if we didn't have to!!

I knew that was the case, I was just wondering what the percentages/amounts were. I think it would be interesting to see the breakdown of the seating release. Just out of curiousity. It would also be interesting to know how many people were online trying to get tix at 10am.

I pretty much had to throw a dart at the screen to choose. I'm listening to Rough Harvest right now, so that would be my current favorite, I guess! lol Caution: Crazy One Changes Mind Regularly!
