I was hoping OPS was a brand new album, but being that it was more less a covers compilation here are some tracks I wish they included. It is a relatively short album.

How about you? What did I miss that you think should have been included?

 Can anyone at Mellencamp.com shine any light on these differences? Specifically why the duet version seems to only be on the cd?

Update! I just listened to Teardrops on Apple Music, and it is the original Trouble no more version as well. It appears the duet version is exclusive to the CD. Strange!

The only difference I can speak of is the difference between the viynl and the cd! That difference being the two versions of Teardrops will fall. Odd that there is thy difference - you would think the vinyl would just be a pressing of what’s on cd. That being said, the vinyl sounds great!

Yeah! I really don’t get why the vinyl wouldn’t be the cd version just pressed on vinyl. Would love to hear the decision as to why the difference. Other than that I will say I am very happy with the vinyl

I’ve had the cd for OPS since it was released. I was glad to receive the vinyl version today! I have a question regarding the version of Teardrops will fall. On the cd, it’s a different version from the one in trouble no more. John shares verses with a female vocalist (not sure who)...it was odd that the Viynl omits this version, and includes the original trouble no more version. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I will always welcome any Mellencamp release with open arms. I do need to ask if fellow fans feel that the creative well may have run dry for JM?  Sad clowns was far from a new record , most of it pieced together from
Old material and covers. Other people’s stuff is nothing more than a compilation of covers marketed as a new record.  Just seems as we are near the end of the creative peak. That said, I’ve been a fan for 36 years

 I am not disappointed in the collection. I’m disappointed in the way it was promoted as a new album. It is a new release, and any time there is a new Mellencamp release it’s cause for celebration. I just just think it should be called what it is: a compilation of Johns covers, with one new recording. I do not think it should be called “the 24th studio album”. I mean two of the tracks are from trouble no more, one of his great studio albums.

So it was made official today that this was old material, most of which available on other albums. Why is this being touted as a studio album? Press releases are calling it John’s 24th studio album- this is a compilation album, like words and music and the best that I could do-not a new studio record. Is it intended to bamboozle fans into thinking it’s a new album? I’ll admit I am a tad disappointed and I know a lot of die hard s will be too.

 Let's hope so!! No one wants rehashed stuff! At least the greatest hits records had new songs to entice!  All These tracks are all redially available on other albums and compilations.

 This is the tracklist on Amazon Italy. Sure hope it is bogus, because it is disappointing, after expecting a new studio album. All of these are on other albums, or compilations. Plus if this is the route, why leave out Wild Night, Under the Boardwalk, Like a rolling Stone, Let it all Hang out, Baby Please Don't go..Hope we get official word soon, and it is a new album, not this.

 Still not official word on this project! I did read something about this just being a covers compilation of already released stuff, and not a new studio effort.  If it’s not a studio record, I’d rather have a vault recording  over a compilation. Hopefully it was a bogus report.

Still no official word on this. Initial reports made this sound like a new studio effort, and a proper follow up to Sad Clowns. I saw something out there today that this was nothing more thank a compilation of covers he has done over the years-like Teardrops will fall , Stones in my Passway, dark as a dungeon, in my time of dying, to the river, Mobile Blues..Etc. I really hope this is wrong, I was hoping for a new studio album, and another compilation would be disappointing. Can anyone just confirm that this is a new album, and not just a collection of old songs?

 Looks like the release date is now Dec7th

 It's getting ridiculous!!.
