I have seen John several times and last night's show was a little disappointing. The song selection was good and from what I could hear, played well, but I was 2nd row center and could barely hear the guitars or John singing. He didn't really seem to be "into" the show at all, like he was just going thru the motions. I think next time he comes around I will think twice about spending the EXTRA money for a good seat, or going at all for that matter. I guess if it was an Indiana show, the first/last show of the tour, perhaps he would be a little more appreciative of his fans. Someone mentioned after the show that he was a little angry because the local stations would not play any of his new music and I can understand if he was angry, but taking it out on the fans, the people who make his paycheck possible, really???

sounds more like a problem of the venue.

he has voiced his displeasure with radio for several years, not like it's anything recent.  in my opinion, he would never "take it out on his fans".

sorry you had a bad experience

Perspectives are different.  I thought that John seemed to be enjoying himself Friday night at the Midland.  His voice was gravelly at times & I think he may have missed a lyric or two, but it was worth every cent I paid for my ticket.  Some of the comments on the KC Star's site were critical and I think they missed it.  Maybe they are the same people who yell "Cougar" during the concert.  I was disappointed by the talking during the acoustic portions of the show.  I loved the new twist on Jack and Diane.  Overall, I was transported once again by Mellencamp and his band.  I already have my tickets for Omaha and can't wait.  I will admit that seeing the movie a 2nd time isn't high on my priorities, but seeing this show again is a MUST for me.

The worst part of the evening were the people that decided to spend the concert sitting in the bar talking.  Otherwise, I had a great time and thought it was an excellent show.  I like the new arrangements, you can only hear the same songs the same way so many times.
