John's new album, No Better Than This, is John's 10th top 10 album - it debuts at #10 on next weeks Billboard album chart! On top of it's lofty arrival on the album chart, the album is #1 for the third week on the Americana Radio chart!

I wish we had a 'like' button here, LOL, cuz I would click that I like it.  Smiley   The album is undeniably good in my opinion, great to hear it is staying on top.

JM has been saying for several years he wants to transition to a singer songwriter. He's always been a singer songwriter to me, however, I think NBTT has him reaching the pinnacle. Transition complete!

Congratulations! I think this year is going to be an amazing one for JM.

Listening in the am driving to work, I thought the same things.
These are some of the best words he's written, yes they are very
different than his rocking songs, but they are truly gems!  They make you
pause and reflect on the words.

Someone was asking (it may of been over on Club Cherry Bomb) when NBTT was due for release in Australia, well it's out NOW.  I got my hands on it today at JB HiFi and I'm loving it! Grin

Incredibly beautiful music that needs to be re-recorded on today's high-tech equipment to do true justice to what JM and his band have created here. I appreciate his devotion to music history, but this album needs to also be heard on new recording equipment for total enjoyment.

An interesting blog posing an interesting question. Anyone have an idea?

http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/entertainment/guestlisted/?p=395&srvc=home&position=recent

John Mellencamp’s PR guy put this question out to rock writers:

“Was just having a conversation with a friend and the Billboard Top 10 debut of John Mellencamp’s ‘No Better Than This’ album came up.  Mentioned that it’s John’s tenth Top 10 album and that it’s offered only in mono which begged the question: What was the last mono-only album that debuted in Billboard’s Top 10?  We’re thinking it must have been over 40 years ago as albums were offered in both stereo and mono from the late 1950s onward.  Any suggestions?”

I’m thinking the answer would be something by the Beatles. But not the Beatles 40 years ago. The Beatles albums re-issued on CD last year were released in both stereo and mono versions. I just don’t know if any of the mono discs made the Top 10.

Thoughts?
