Just a few days prior to Christmas 1991 , John Mellencamp was rehearsing his band in his garage, literally, in the snow-covered hills of Central Indiana, in preparation for their upcoming 1992 tour . I was invited to interview him and record the band in rehearsal , thus this performance of  “Jack and Diane” is absolutely live ,  no overdubs . In memory of accordion/keyboard player John Cascella .-Redbeard

Picked up your Tweet about this and listened...very cool feel to it, different arrangement for some instruments. Two other "live at the studio"  recordings also on the In the Studio site: Martha Says and Pink Houses.

Thanks for sharing Sharon.

I can remember recording this off the radio when it originally aired. Still have those old cassettes somewhere. LOL. They are probably too brittle to play anymore.

This exact version was on the Now More than Ever single from '92...there's a bootleg CD with 13 or 14 songs from the rehearsal as well...

It was more of this kind of stuff I'd really hoped for with regards to the box set. Oh well.
