Great Show! Sound was crystal clear. Nice blend of old familiar favourites and new material.
Brought back alot of memories for me personally as the first concert that I ever attended was in 1987 when John played Copps Coliseum here in Hamilton and although 24 years have passed this show was as great as the one 24 years ago. Thanks John

I'm sorry, that comment was in reference to the comment above about jobo going to Copps 24 years ago.
One funny thing though was when John told the story about his grandmother saying "me and buddy are ready to come home", some guy yelled out--Don't go yet Buddy!!

Was an amazing show. Has 4th row but went right to the stage when the shows started. At the end, wiggled onto the stage and got the song sheet. Thanks John!!

I just want to go on record to say that prior to last Saturday's show, I have always been a huge fan of John and his music. I was very surprised when I bought the overpriced tickets but figured I had never seen John before, it must be something very special because he hasn't toured in so long in Canada, so I bought 2. Expecting a huge show!
The pre-show movie was a cheap out for not playing a warm up band. I have never ever seen a band play without one and for them not to even set up lights. What's with that?
They used the stage lights so that you could barely make out faces on stage even in the Orchestra seating. Way too much gospel and not even close on the music that everyone there wanted to hear. Take a hint John, Price gouging for tickets; COME ON!, bring your own lights, turn up the sound on vocals, play more of the old stuff ( not even one song from Cutting Heads!) and always come back for an encore. That was without a doubt, honestly the biggest, most disappointing concerts I have ever been to. Did you not notice that when you sang an old tune EVERYONE STOOD UP and sat down when you went off on a gospel tune? CHANGE MANAGERS OR WHOEVER IS YOUR AGENT.

maybe other people will do the same and post their opinions.

Sorry that the concert was such a disappointment to you but as has been stated here his current tour roster has been widely publicized and known so the style of music should have been no surprise.
As for "not touring for so long in Canada"....I have seen him 3 times in the Toronto are, at two different venues, during the past 16 months so I beg to differ. In addition there have been plenty of other Canadian cities on various legs of this tour.

I have a friend from Canada I met her a the Dylan, Nelson, Mellencamp baseball park in Central New York a few years ago. Since then she saw him 6 times when he came to Canada and he has not come to Central New York since. That sucks for me. When he does come here, I don't care how much it costs, I am buying a ticket!

OMG!! Obviously you have not been keeping that up to date on John. If u had bought his last 3 Cd's you would know what he is playing and recording. Also check his website for tour dates as he has played numerous times in Canada in the last few years. Also, check setlist.com b4 buying tickets so u know what to expect.
His shows was awesome and everyone i talked to felt the same. Was fabulous!! I have seen our 125 rock shows and this was in the top 10.

The show was great. John has gone on record, numerous times over the past year or so, telling people he is NOT playing his greatest hits right now! He has been very, very clear. He is tired of stadium shows where he has to play the same 12 or 15 songs every single night. He has never deceived anybody by promising them the greatest hits and then not delivering. I was surprised how many of his hits he worked in, actually.
The music he has been writing the past few years is the best he has ever done. Sure his hits were, and are, great, but he is continuing to improve and getting better all the time. He is very similar to Bob Dylan in that respect. If you had read anything about John lately you would know he isn't doing his best-of, stadium style shows. He's sick of them.
I live in Ontario and have seen him 4 times in the past 3 years. In Syracuse (with Dylan and Willie Nelson), at Casino Rama, at Massey Hall and in Hamilton. I know he played London in the winter of 2008 because I just missed out on seeing him. He played in Windsor just after his Casino Rama show last summer. On those tours he was playing mostly greatest hits. He has been all over the place recently.
As for the set up of this show; I'm fine with no opening act. The movie was interesting and if you had already seen it, you knew exactly what the time frame was, which was perfect because you knew you wouldn't miss the music. The show was great. He played lots of his hits and lots of his newer stuff. Bringing out great older songs like Key West Intermezzo was brilliant. It was a great show. No encore, well, so what? He obviously set it up purposely by playing Pink Houses, ROCK in the USA and Cherry Bomb last. What's the difference if he had ended with something else and then come back 2 minutes later and played those 3? He closed the show with 3 of his best loved songs. Nothing wrong with that.! I've seen him on this tour twice and he played between 2 and 2 1/2 hours non-stop both times. I feel like I got my money's worth and then some.

omg i have so many concerns with this review i just don't know where to start
personally speaking, me, being a "huge fan of john and his music" like yourself, that last thing i want is another greatest hits show. i've seen that way too many times now
these were my fave songs in the show:
no one cares about me
death letter
john cockers
longest days
if i die sudden
i saw you first
did you not like those songs?
