Wow you guys....those are awesome!  I was going to enter kind of a depressing lyric for today...but reading these has actually brought a smile to my face....so my choice for today is..

This is killing me.  Everytime I read someone's post I remember another favorite!  Yeah - "What If I Came Knockin" - love the intensity and bit of danger in that one....and "Ain't Even Done With the Night" - sigh - love the 'hands in my back pockets' - sigh.

Then there's L.U.V. just cuz it's just plain fun. And I think one of the coolest songs he even did was "Justice & Independance" for the play on words.  I've heard he doesn't like that song, but I LOVE it and wish he would do it live...especially now because the theme still works for these times.

So - I keep wondering what happened....and in that wondering I found myself looking at my own life.  My husband is a high school ski coach...has been for our whole 30 year marriage.  I hate ski season.  Every plan we try to make is interrupted with phone calls, or newly announced meetings, ski meets etc.  It takes all his free time.  I can only imagine what it's like to be married to a performer like John.  I imagine there is very little free time to spend with family and what ever free time there is is often interupted.  Guess it really sunk in when I was trying to talk to my husband about something and his phone kept ringing. My problems last the winter....John's and Elaine's would last year round.  It has to be hard.

Well that's interesting!!!  I tend to think you may be right....Job had a rough life.  I would think it would make more sense for his turkey to be 'dead' rather than 'deaf'.  Hmmmmm....have to 'Google" this one!

Wow - thank you.  It seems people are under the impression that we are "gossiping" about this whole situation.  We're not - at least I'm not.  I'm upset and concerned.  I know famous people need their privacy, but if we had had ANY kind of clue that there was trouble in the marriage I don't think we would be wondering and talking about it so much.  It's upsetting. 

It's also frustrating when you're trying to have "conversations" with fans of an artist and they throw back insults.  I thought we were all on the same page on this website...Mellencamp friends and fans.  Didn't think we were here to attack each other.

Well that was mature....

She has such a distinctive look.  Years ago (before she married John) I used to get Victoria's Secret Catalogs and I always noticed her.  Then when she appeared on the WWW cover I immediately knew who it was.

Maybe we'll see more of her now.  She truly is one of a kind.

You can't be serious?  You don't really expect us to stop speculating and stop wondering and stop talking about OUR celebrity's divorce??!!

Again - we've GROWN UP with Elaine and the boys.  They are like FAMILY!  Plus they are public figures.  I don't feel bad at all about being concerned and curious as to what went on....especially when it seemed so sudden to us.  I think that's the real shocker....it came out of no where as far as we could see.

So I guess.....if you don't want to discuss "John & Elaine" then stay off of this leg.

I, for one, would really like to know what's behind the name change thing and WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!!  Can't help it.......

John is the one asking Elaine to take back her maiden name???!!  What the heck is going on!!??  I'm sorry but this is all too weird.  I know divorces are crazy, but why would he do that?  Legal reasons? 

And what's with the menus and recipes?  I got reamed out on another leg for talking about John talking about Elaine on A & E....because it was a leg for A & E and not talking about John & Elaine....even though John was talking about John and Elaine on A & E...so why are we discussing food under the John and Elaine leg. 

Not that I'm against food.....

I guess that's why it was kind of awkward.....either he really does care about Elaine and something went goofy/haywire in that relationship....or he's a really good actor.......

But it was a good interview.

The part that got me was when he talked about the real message of the NBTT Tour Movie.  Unfortunately I think very few people got the message that was intended by the movie maker.  A lot of the attendees at the concert I went to were not paying attention to what was said in the movie....partly because the sound was really bad.  I don't think they took it as a movie with a message...just an extended concert video.  And it sounds like there were many messages.....I would like to see it again.

I was not insinuating he was uneducated.  I know this is a phrase used in his neck of the woods.  I was just giggling at the fact that he pulled another one out of his hat; and I love it when he does that.  He used "Boy Howdy!" as an exclamation in an interview a long time ago and my kids and I have used it ever since.

I also realize the interview and the divorce probably didn't happen at the same time....but he was not wearing his wedding ring and he's got the bearded look going on....so we are somewhat in the same time frame.  Just felt awkward to me; though I was glad to hear him speak of Elaine in loving terms.  But it makes me wonder even more what the heck happened.
