MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Plain Spoken release date

The release of John's new studio album "Plain Spoken" is fast approaching. I'm guessing late September. When will we receive the official release date and track listing? Is the new album taking John on a new musical direction? Or will the new album continue on along the lines of his great "No Better Than This"?

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / John Mellencamp: Trouble No More Live At Town Hall

It's hard to believe this gem of a live recording wasn't released much sooner. I bought the CD on the day of its release. It's beautifully played by Mellancamp's band and sung with passion and emotion by John. Trouble No More was a terrific studio album but the songs really come to life on the live album. Paper And Fire and Pink Houses are amazing and fit right in with the theme. The musical and tempo change of Small Town is especially wonderful.
It really is an enjoyable musical journey. The anticipation of John's new studio album is getting higher and higher.
Are there anymore live gems like Trouble No More Live At Town Hall in John's vault? It's quite probable. At least I hope it is.

NON-JOHN DISCUSSION / Music You Like / Re: THE BOSS Isn't Done Yet

Springsteen and Mellencamp both have music in their blood. They have both done rock albums and acoustic albums. There are also some similarities in their songwriting styles.
As for Springsteen's album "High Hopes", I do like it but "Wrecking Ball" is definitely a better effort.

There could be a lot of unheard/unreleased material in John's vault that he might like to release over the next few years in addition to writing and recording new material. There could even be the possibility of more live material being released. Mind you this is just speculation on my part. We'll have to wait and see.
