Title: Spring 2011 Pre-Sale Questions & Problems
Post by: TonyBClubManager on October 08, 2010, 09:20:34 am
If your question is a general question about the tour please post it here and we will try to answer. If it has something that makes it show specific then please post it in the show's board in the No Better Than This Tour section of the message board.

Hello Tony, first things first, thanks for your continued hard work with Mellencamp.com. You make the experience what it is and I am eternally grateful.
Right, here goes. You will remember that my wife Mary and me have been to Seymour, Bloomington and Belmont several times on holiday and seen John loads of times in concert, (8 for Mary, 10 for me), including three times on the W & M tour in April 2005 when you helped us get tix (due to us not being able to access them via Club Cherry Bomb and Fanfire) and three in Feb 2008 in Canada (where we won the M & G). Both Mary and my birthdays are on the same day, the 15th February (I think you know what's coming next) and we are looking to come over from England, Europe to Washington and NY. I will need tix to both shows for the two of us. Can I please ask, what time they will be going on sale? This is not clear from the website as it mentions local time. Is this Eastern, Central, Indiana or what time as it will be a middle of the night job for us I think and I don't want to miss out. Secondly, I don't think I can buy tix to both the Washington and NY shows at the same time? Is this corect? or am I missing something? I am not after any favours but if I can't get the tix we won't be coming and I don't want that simply because the technology isn't up to the job like it wasn't in 05. Of course if their are any dual birthday presents these will be graciously accepted but it's not the reason I write.
To sign off, again, many thanks for your hard work, we really appreciate it and would love to be able to thank you one day

i'm sure tony will respond in greater detail, but tickets go on sale at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time.  both NYC and DC go on sale at the same time.  you would have to buy one, then the next, unless you have someone else who can assist you with a second ticketmaster account.

best of luck!

Correct. If you visit the Mellencamp.com Tour page itself you will see that we have the presale and public sale times listed most exactly, including time zone (eastern time for all of these shows).

If you would try to purchase tickets from two different computers with two separate ticketmaster accounts (say in your and a spouses name) I think you would be able to do it.

If you are considering buying Premium Package Tickets those don't go as fast at the regular tickets, although I expect everything will go super fast in New York City. Won't be surprised if a second show happens there even during the pre-sale.

What I am suggesting is if you are buying tickets for both shows yourself would be to buy New York City regular and then as soon as you have them purchased to buy VIP in Washington DC.

However, I think your fellow fans here can offer more tips about how to buy tix to multiple shows as I am sure they have had to figure it out in the past.

Hi Tony,

How are the Premium Package tickets distributed in terms of order?  If I order right when they go on sale, will I get better seats than if I ordered them somewhere in the future.

Thanks.

Each ticket seller works a bit different but packages tickets should be placed into your shopping cart in the order of best available at the moment of request. Your best bet at the best tickets is at the very start of the presale.

Without fail there will be a few ticket buyers who buy the tickets they pull up only to find that other ticket buyers who pulled up better tickets didn't end up buying them and they return to the general pool for purchasing.

We recommend you pre-register with the ticket seller of your show so you have an account all set up. That is something you have to do and is not connected with your Mellencamp.com account in any way.

Question about the Premium Seat Package... if we have 3 people wanting seats together, do we have to buy 3 Premium Packages, or can we buy 1 package, and 2 additional seats in the first 10 rows?  Or with the pre-sale, will we only get seats from row 10 and back?  We want front row, or at least closer than row 11 for sure.

Yes you have to buy 3 Premium Packages if you want 3 seats together in the premium package area. We do not sell those seats without the merchandise bundle. Depending on the venue there will be seats in the front 10 rows sold outside of the premium packages if you want to try to go that route.

Thanks for getting back to me.  We're in Vancouver, BC... will there be seats in the first 10 rows without the premium packages?  Or do we just have to wait until they go on sale (presale tomorrow)?

I do not have access to show by show seat allotments to know which shows have tickets in the front 10 rows that are not part of the Premium Package. For the theaters with longer rows in the front 10 this is likely. For theaters that start with little tiny rows up front it's more unlikely.

Tony, do you expect more US legs to be added in 2011 (maybe toward the end of the year).  I really want to go to the last show in the tour.  I just want to make sure I know which show that is!!  Should I be shopping the last posted show in Iowa?

Thanks a TON for all the work you do and all the effort you go to for us!

I am not looking for it at this time. Best chances are some overseas touring after April if the tour continues.

Finally after 5 years John is coming to Seattle. Unfortunately I did not find out until 2 days ago. I had been watching and praying he would come here. So I go to buy tickets and of course all but the crappy seats are taken

What I am angry about is why is it people are allowed to buy pre-sale tickets and then turn around and put them online for 3-4 times their value? I found perfect seats in the ORCH but they are over 800.00 for 2 tickets.  I am just disgusted! >:(

Why is AB (Canada) getting 2 shows and we only get one, and it is a small venue (although nice) so a second show would of made a lot of sense.

I am completely bummed.. I had tickets to see him in August 2005, and I got the best dang seats too (for a lot less then this venue), it was at the White River amphitheater. Unfortunately my dad had passed away 8 months prior to this at 66 and my mom was also dying from alzheimers at 62. So I had to stay with her and miss that concert.

So I have been waiting a long time and I don't mean to sound like a baby but I have never wanted to see an artist so bad as I do John Mellencamp.. So of course i am depressed. I want good seats without having to be robbed by these people who snatched up the good ones to go and sell for sickening amounts, is that to much to ask?

I will pay that much if I have to because I think this will be my last chance to see him in concert. I am not wealthy but I will do what I need to I guess... But it's not fair.

Now tonight it says on ticket master.. It didn't say this yesterday.. Is it sold out??? I will puke if it is..

"Tickets are currently not available online for one of the following reasons. Please check back for availability.

    * Tickets may not be on sale yet
    * Tickets may not be available at this time. More tickets may become available later
    * Tickets may not be available online just hours before an event occurs
    * On rare occasions, tickets may only be available at ticket outlets or the box office

Sorry that you missed out on the tour announcement. It's a reminder to make sure you are on our email mailinglist as well as following on John's twitter and facebook pages. We reach out a lot to our fans to keep them in the loop.

I don't know if Seattle is sold out, although I heard it was selling well. The shows that got second shows got them because pretty much they sold out instantly. The promoter (not so much John) makes those calls based on their experience with the local market and what they think is doable ticket and schedule wise.

I suggest you keep checking for tickets, especially daily the last 3 weeks before the show. There are always a few tickets that are released before the show.

Thank you Tony.. I don't know how I missed the announcement. I am on the mailing list as well as his twitter, facebook and I still missed it (I even was checking often).. I could just stomp my feet for missing it..LOL!!

Yes I saw that there are some seats available (it must have just been down before). However I don't know this venue well enough so I don't know how far it is to the stage from section 25, row D. But it might just have to due and I will just have to pray like hell they are good seats..lol

However I am afraid to wait until so close to the show in fear of not getting a seat at all..So we shall see..

Thanks for your information..

hi Tony,
Great time at the Clowes show on Monday.  We had a blast.

We are considering to go down to Austin for the 4/2/11 show, is there any more news on that show and when the presale might take place?

Thanks in advance,
Jim/Indianapolis

The promoter is still waiting on the Austin venue to be a little closer to completion (it's a new venue still under construction as I understand it) before they put tickets on sale. It's always hard to ticket a place until they can get the seats into it!

Hi Tony:

I have tickets for the Pittsburgh show this saturday night.  since the venue sold the tickets and not ticketmaster, I was not provided with the promo codes for 2 tickets for the cd download and the chance to upgraded to the front row.  I called the venue ticket office and they never heard of this promotion from the Mellencamp camp.  Would you provide me with information on how I can participate in this promotion?

Thanks!

Tom

The mp3 album download was only included with tickets for the 2011 shows, no fall 2010 shows included the download and they do not offer the front row upgrade chance.

Sorry for the confusion,
Tony

I got tickets for the Houston show and received the premium items (poster, album,. t-shirt, pass, etc.) several days ago.

However, I have had a problem trying to download the mp3 to qualify for an update to first row.  When I first tried, I entered my code but then it would not download because Java would not support it.  I upgraded Java and tried again and got the response that the code was already used.  When I contacted the provider, I received no suggestions back.  Any suggestions Tony or Sharon?

Try downloading it using the FireFox or Google Chrome browsers and see if they work any better. That is my best suggestion, that or try a different computer. It's not a perfect process but we have had very few problems.
Thanks

The Package emails haven' gone out yet. We don't have easy access to the customer data for the non Ticketmaster shows so we typically have to wait until we either sell out of the packages or end their sale before we can send the redemption emails out. So if you don't see the email by about 3 weeks before your show please drop me an email at [email protected]

second and third tour leg...any news about a european leg of this tour?
if not, i would appreciate it a lot hearing about it before the us and canada tour is sold out or ended, then i would travel to the usa to catch a show. dont want to miss out on everything again.
Thanks!
(by the way all this discussion about John´s privacy is a shame here. I thought this site is about music and not who´s dating whom.)

Overseas touring is being considered, as we speak, but no final decisions will be made probably until after the 2nd leg begins.

Hi all, still hoping its not a dream that John is to play in Manchester UK later in the year will we be able to purchase special packages from here for the UK gigs and with living in the UK?
Also will there be a pre-sale for the UK or is the site just for the US?
Thanks

It is not a dream. John is coming to Europe and will be playing 14 shows. The final details are coming together as we speak to announce the full tour, hopefully on Wednesday.

We have the details posted on the Mellencamp.com TOUR page about Manchester and London. There are presales happening today/tomorrow for these shows.

The key thing to do to get all of the details we have is to click the BLUE " i " icon on the tour grid to take you to the Mellencamp.com show details page. This link is located under the SHOW INFO column.

We expect the Paris show to go on sale this weekend with a presale on Friday.

Ticketing works very differently in Europe than in the US so we are at the mercy of John's management and the European concert promoters giving us the details of the ticket on sales.

It appears some shows will have SEVERAL official ticket sellers which is very unlike the USA.

Because of this, there will not be separate/stand alone Mellencamp.com presales for the European shows. We will piggy back, when possible, with the other presales that may be taking place locally. However please be investigating these opportunities for yourself in case word of the presales do not reach us in time.

We will be trying to offer our premium ticket packages to as many shows as possible, but again it may turn out that several shows don't offer them and I am not sure how much advance warning we are going to get about that.
