Mellencamp’s unbridled creativity enables him to aesthetically express hard-hitting truthful messages with distinctive perception. “John Mellencamp’s subject matter is of human existence painted as simply, starkly and fully as he himself experienced it,” said Museum of Art—DeLand CEO George Bolge. “Art is not merely something he uses to clarify his position or to give point to his vision of life, it’s the very substance of who he is and what he wants to say.” Read the complete press on Mellencamp.com

Anyone have any info on the San Diego show?  I have a front row center seat.  Not expecting a full on Mellencamp show, thinking probably 6 to 8 songs???  Will this be a full band or John solo?

Any info would be great.

Either way, really looking forward to it.  Haven't seen John live since he played a show in the LA area in early 2011- believe it was in April 2011 @ The Nokia Theatre.

Wow, that would be pretty disappointing.

We haven't been told too many details but it should be full band and probably a setlist similar to the summer casino tour.

I, too, am looking forward to tonight's San Diego concert!  Many thanks to cge333 for his/her original post about this concert several weeks ago - after reading your post, I researched this concert and was able to snag 3rd row center seats!!  My husband and I traveled here from the east coast to enjoy San Diego and tonight's show  Smiley

Would be hard to believe it will not be a full show tonight esp. with tickets at $135 for good seats.  I live here in SD and it was a fluke I heard about the show by seeing a billboard downtown this week......very little publicity for this show.   Should have joined this group earlier.  I am hoping the band cranking it up as usual tonight!!

Here is a fan report that came in by email:

Human Wheels
Troubled Man
Check it Out
J&D (acoustic, solo)
-grandmother story
Longest Days /  Andy, Troy
Small Town
Hymn
Rain on the Scarecrow
Crumblin' Down
ROCK / love light
Pink Houses (acoustic,solo. Miriam solo)
Authority Song
-band intros
Cherry Bomb

Came out smoking.  He seemed to be enjoying himself. Lyric change in ST, saying he married a couple of ladies...stopped and said he didn't understand why we all think that's so funny.

Just returned to the east coast from San Diego.  The San Diego concert was simply awesome...John and the band were on fire, rested and ready to rock with the crowd!  He played for about 1.5 hours which was great!  As the fan stated in the e-mail Tony posted, JM was really enjoying himself and the crowd.  Loved the part where he stopped to address the crowd when we laughed during Small Town.  Extra special part of the evening was when the security team told us JM asked for the barrier to be taken down that was in place between the front row and stage and we were allowed to get up front and personal right in front of the stage, singing and dancing to every song.  It was amazing to be that close, an unforgettable evening!  Cannot wait for the 2015 tour!!  Also enjoyed meeting a fellow Mellencamp groupie and member of the online Mellencamp Community, cge333...hope to see you again at a future concert  Smiley

Kstucker it was nice meeting you and your husband.  Glad you guys really liked the show.  It's great being right up front, but kind of spoils you and makes it so you have to sit up there all the time.

I heard a number of people walking out after the show singing John's praises.

80 shows is quite the tour.  Looking forward to it and the new album.  He doesn't come out to the Southwest until next July.  I do have the Ghost Brothers show in LA in early December and the new album to tide me over until then.
