You got your eye on the cheerleader queen
You're walkin' her home from school
You know that she's only seventeen
She's gonna make you a fool
You know you can't touch this stuff
Without money or a brand new car
Let me give you some good advice young man
You better learn to play guitar!!!

And there's winners and there's losers, but they ain't no big deal.  'Cause the simple man baby pays for the thrills, the bills, and the pills that kill.  Oh, but ain't that America ......

I dont believe this. history has seen enough stupid people who knew how to push the right buttons, often ending in desaster.

Kind of like the one we've got running the country now?

Unfortunately, just because a person is a good speaker doesn't mean they'll make a good president.
5  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: What's John's best selling album to date? on: March 08, 2011, 09:45:48 pm
American Fool.

It sold 5 million+ copies, had the number one single “Jack & Diane” AND the top ten single “Hurts So Good”.  A feat unmatched since November 16, 1974, by John Lennon.

Mellencamp also won Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male, for “Hurts So Good” from "American Fool" at the 25th annual Grammy Awards in 1983.

6  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Stage Background Question? on: March 08, 2011, 09:06:20 pm
I went to the Durham, NC concert and really liked the painted portrait of a town that John used as his stage back drop.  I thought it was a pretty cool picture.

Since it's common knowledge that John's dabbled in painting in the past (maybe still does?), I was wondering if he had any involvement in creating his stage back drop, or if not, how that particular back drop was chosen?

Thanks!
7  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Durham, NC Show on: March 02, 2011, 02:12:25 am
It's been on my 'bucket list' to see Mellencamp before he hangs up his guitar.

I've loved his music since I was first heard him back in the early 80's!

I went to the Durham show tonight and he did not disappoint!

Excellent sound (the band was super tight), excellent set list, and excellent show!

His voice sounds just as good today as I remember it in the 80's!

The show was everything I expected and more !!!!!!!
