The showbizzspy article is a real piece of fiction if you ask me, with quotes stolen directly from the National Enquirer and trashy mags like that. Though I would love to see John quit smoking.

Yes this is a private matter. And yes people are allowed to have an opinion.

In the end though, none of us know the people involved here. What we read about them in the (gossip)media might not be anywhere near the truth for instance.

Anyway, John was seen repeatedly with Meg Ryan these past few weeks, even this weekend, so i guess we will have to get used to it.

Fact is none of us know any of these people. And none of us know what happened with Elaine and John's marriage. So we don't know if John or Elaine cheated on eachother or if they left the marriage for someone else, or if they just grew apart which happens a lot. It's just guessing. And it's sad to see gossipwebsites taking advantage of it by making up stories.

Musician John Mellencamp has filed for divorce from his wife, Elaine, after nearly 18 years of marriage claiming the union is irretrievably broken, and RadarOnline.com has exclusive new details behind the star's split.

According to court documents filed January 14 in Brown County, Indiana, John and Elaine married on September 5, 1992 and physically separated on or about September 1, 2010.
The couple has two children, age 16 and 15, and Elaine is not currently pregnant.

John, who is in possession of the couple's Prenuptial Agreement, states in court documents that the Prenup is valid and binding and will govern the distribution of the marital property.

In addition, John also requests that Elaine be restored to her maiden name of "Irwin."

The documents note that the couple intends to submit a Confidential Child and Property Settlement Agreement to the court for review and approval, requesting an entry of Summary Degree with no future hearings.

John and Elaine met in 1991 when she modeled for the cover of his album, Whenever We Wanted.

Sounds like just more gossip to me. More reliable sources so far have claimed this marriage has been over for months.

Plus it's well known by now that Meg Ryan's marriage ended because her ex-husband Dennis Quaid cheated on her for several years. But I guess that doesn't make for interesting gossip for this 'journalist'.

Gossipmedia seems unable to report on things in a normal way. In the case of the above photos, I checked the photo agency: those were taken yesterday in NYC, where Meg Ryan lives with her kids. She visited a food store and was pictured leaving it, getting into a car. Alone.  A few 'moments' - minutes, hours, who knows - John was also pictured leaving that same store. Alone.

I don't know if they have a thing going on or not. There is no evidence for it OR against it - yet. They could be just friends, they could be more.

But it's a shame to see the gossipmedia just making up stories as they go to provide us with fake-evidence. That must be hurtful to John, Elaine, Meg Ryan and their families.

Please keep in mind that those reports all come from one and the same gossipreport. The notorious PageSix, who often is very wrong with their stories. Even if they have been spending some time together, that does not mean they are 'involved' and it does not mean Meg Ryan somehow caused the breakup of their marriage. The two people inside the marriage are responsible for the marriage and we don't know what happened there and we also don't know when the real breakup happened.
Gossipsources will write whatever makes them the most money, regardless of the real story.

From what I heard, Meg and John have been friends for a while. As in f-r-i-e-n-d-s. But like you: I hope they are not a couple. Shocking as this may sound: I think Meg Ryan could do better than John.
