16  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: OTHER PEOPLES STUFF on: October 05, 2018, 03:43:01 pm
I can't wait to find out the track listing for the new album, i'm sure we can expect a few surprises.
17  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Will the. Chicago Theater concert DVD/Blu-Ray have a “no commentary” option? on: February 01, 2018, 10:50:19 am
I sure hope, as much as i’m interested in hearing John’s commentary, i think it would to have the option of hearing only the music.
18  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: first two albums???? on: January 23, 2018, 05:31:59 pm
Probably because they're embarrassingly bad, John has admitted as much.
19  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: What is next? on: October 17, 2017, 07:02:27 am
A double album, a Ghost Brothers US tour with a stop near me, co-starring in and/or directing a movie with Meg Ryan.

One can hope. Smiley
20  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: "It's About You" Different Versions? on: August 15, 2017, 06:12:32 pm
A region free Blu-Ray/DVD player would do the trick. Smiley
21  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Reproducing old vinyl on: August 15, 2017, 06:05:45 pm
Most of John's albums sound fabulous in their original vinyl and CD editions, remasters are a crap shoot regardless of whether it's analog or digital, some are an improvement and some are the complete opposite. I would love to see vinyl releases for Whenever We Wanted, Human Wheels, 98 S/T, Cuttin' Heads, and most of all ''Freedom's Road'' because the available CD of that one s is mastered way too loud, and is sorely lacking in dynamics, a downright shame for such a great album.
22  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: What's up with Rolling Stone magazine?? No "Sad clowns and hillbillies" review? on: June 26, 2017, 08:25:08 pm
So glad to know I'm not alone in my thinking! I've said the same thing about both for years. It kills me that Bruce can do something John has done years before and then get praise for his "ground breaking" work. It may not be his fault but I can't listen to him because of that. Well, that's not entirely true, I cannot deal with his voice either!

Lisa in Georgia

I cannot stand his voice either, but it's not only that, it's also that wanna-be midwestern/southern accent of his ''or whatever the hell it is'' the stupid bandana, the make-up, and the way he struts on stage like he's still 25. But what really gets my dander up is the fact that so many of his apparently blind and tone deaf followers still think John is the lightweight of the two. Still none of that would matter if his post 70s output was one tenth as interesting and compelling as John's is, but it's not even close.
23  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: What's up with Rolling Stone magazine?? No "Sad clowns and hillbillies" review? on: June 23, 2017, 07:00:15 pm
And now RollingStone just put out their top 50 albums "so far" of 2017 and once again John Mellencamp's - sad clowns and hillbillies album was not on the list. What a joke!!!  I'm about to unsubscribe to that magazine, that makes no fucking sense.  That magazine gives John Mellencamp no love at all. If Bruce Springsteen put that same album out, that magazine would say it's an instant classic and give it five stars!!! They are so biased to certain people it's not even funny. I'm done with that garbage magazine... 😡😡😡 RollingStone magazine is= 🐶💩

I have nothing but contempt for both RS and Bruce, one is garbage and the other has been putting out mostly garbage for decades. Both are, and have been extremely overrated for as long as i can remember, they deserve each other.
24  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: What Does "Grandview" Sound Like To You? on: February 26, 2017, 09:03:55 pm

I think ''Grandview'' is terrific,  if it's an older song it's more likely from the 2007 ''Freedom's Road'' sessions, the Martina McBride thing came out of nowhere. I wonder what other surprises John's got in store for us on the new album, can't wait to hear it.

25  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / What's new with ''Ghost Brothers Of Darkland County''. on: November 29, 2016, 09:29:02 am
Will there be a US tour in the future, my wife and i happened to catch it in Providence R.I a couple of years ago ''has it been that long'' and thought the whole production was spectacularly good, especially John's songs. We would gladly pay good money to see it again, might even bring a few folks along.
26  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Duets Album on: November 12, 2015, 06:37:44 pm

''John got the idea to do an album together. I was blown away. I think we’re onto something really interesting, but I won’t give the surprise away.”

27  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / John wrote the complete score 'including a new song'' for new movie ''Ithaca''. on: October 22, 2015, 07:53:06 am

Hopefully the movie does well and there's a soundtrack release in the near future, got my fingers crossed.

And this from another article.

''Ryan also got help from her then-john-mellencamp-billboard-650boyfriend John Mellencamp, who composed the entire score — even writing a song that would sound like a standard of the time. “Not one note of that is anything other than Mellencamp. He did everything,”  she said gratefully.''
28  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Re: Sept 13 2001 concert Massachusetts on: October 04, 2015, 07:15:04 am
I was there and this the single greatest, most memorable concert of John's  i've ever attended, and i've seen him about two dozen times. It may be the single greatest concert by anyone that i've ever attended, you had to BE there. I think from the incredible opening cover of ''Gimme Shelter'' to the last note played i had chills the whole evening, it just doesn't get ''No Better Than This''. I would love to see a Blu-Ray release of this show, or documentary of the tour preferably to be shown i theaters across America, one can dream right.
29  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: IMPORTANT MELLENCAMP FAN FEEDBACK NEEDED - RE ROLLING STONE on: August 26, 2015, 06:30:33 pm
A giant fuck you to RS, any rag that wouldn't include John in their top 100 songwriters is completely irrelevant and therefore not worth the effort.

I haven't looked at the list because my gut feeling was that John wouldn't be on it, Rolling Stone has no credibility with me, they're garbage as far as i'm concerned.

There are two songwriters i'd put ahead of John, they are Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, and if if i were to judge them on their last four albums John would probably be on top.
30  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: New live album slated for July release ''Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood''. on: August 03, 2015, 08:31:05 am
I was a Springsteen fan before i ever knew who John was, but even then i thought he was overrated. I guess i too fell for all the media hype i'll always associate with the Boss, you know the ''i've just seen the future of rock & roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen'' shit. I think right around the time of ''The River'' is when i lost all interest in him and his music.

Forward a few years to 83 ''i think'' and i hear what i think is the new Rolling Stones single  ''Crumblin' Down'' coming out of my car speakers and i'm blown away when i find out it's John. Yeah the same guy who up to that point had been the whipping boy of both the rock media and Springsteen fan boys, from that day on i had no time or patience for either, i knew John was BETTER, and time has only proven me right.

As i said before i have no problem with Springsteen both as a person or as an artist, but for the most part i just cannot stand his fans. It seems there are two kinds of Boss fans, the ones that think John exists just to copy whatever Bruce does, and those who'll never give him the time of day. I think i actually ''prefer'' that last one, but to be kind and to quote The Who ''they can all just fade away'' as far as i'm concerned.
