MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Time for a new fan club pre-sale system?
|
on: February 14, 2017, 01:46:57 pm
|
So, the "fan club" pre-sale.......and 3 hours later there are 150+ "fan club presale tickets" on stubhub......so do you think they went to real fans???
Look, I have nothing against stubhub or other resale services, i have both bought and sold on them many times and will continue to, they provide a valuable service. But perhaps there is a better way to get the good seats into the hands of real fans (like me of course)
In the model of U2, Tom Petty, etc (yes I realize a much different scale) perhaps you could offer a "premium" fan club membership, $25.00 a year or so, that would grant you access to pre-sale tickets for premium members before the other free members. To take it even a step better, long term members get access before people who join up after the show has been announced. I am not sure, but I hear Pearl jam takes it even a step further by keeping track of how long you have been a member and granting earliest access to those with the longest memberships. Ticket limits of course (4 per show would be good) and will call. Maybe for your $25.00 or more you get exclusive videos or something like that.
The VIP seat thing was pretty good, hopefully that will come back, but I have 9 briefcases in storage, a few more in use and have given away quite a few. I have more than a dozen of the prints of the painting, and more lanyards than that. (BTW do away with the lanyards, they are useless. A commemorative ticket is better). What us fans really want is an up close seat to our favorite songwriter. We want The Real Life, cuz Minutes turn To Memories, and memories of great shows keep us going. Sharon, Tony, thanks for all you already do, and maybe this is not feasible with your budget constraints (of both time and money). It seems to me the fan club site does not get as many eyeballs as I wish it did, so maybe it's not possible. But when "fan club" tickets are on stubhub the same day it is not "real fan" purchasers, right?
Ok well besides all that, see you in Allentown, and maybe some other venues (pending announcements) and much thanks to JM and the band being out there playing for us! Makes my year!!!

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: Allentown Fair show

I kept trying for better seats and eventually got locked out. no matter how many times i refreshed it kept saying "try another time" I think TM thinks since I was searching and throwing back so fast I was a bot. the TM app worked, and I did eventually get the tix, not where I want to sit but.......so try later or try another computer, or use the TM app on your smartphone. of course there are 150 + tickets on stubhub already, you could go there....But that is another issue for another post.....coming soon. Good Luck, see you there!

Well at the end of the Plain Spoken tour I read somewhere "See ya next summer" and sure enough it came true! Looks like John and the band will be out doing at least one show beside FarmAid...and it happens to be right near me! So S or T will there be a fan club presale for the Allentown Fair show? It would be very cool if you did. VIP tickets would be good too (although I already have like 10 or 12 Mellencamp leather briefcases ) thanks for all you guys do, and thanks for keeping our fav artist on the road!

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: John Premiering New Song & Video On Yahoo's "The Katie Couric Interview" 1/19
|

Love the interview, and love him speaking his mind as he always does. Funny watching him be just a tad more careful about what he says these days. I applaud the song, the timing, and of course the "plain spoken" sentiment and lyrics which ring so true. Musically the song sounds very similiar to the arrangement of "The Full Catastrophe" that he performed the past tour (and I LOVED that version).
On a side note I listen to Cuttin' Heads (the song) and Peaceful World and the sentiments in those songs ring even more true (imho) today than when they were written. Or the video for Cherry Bomb, an unpopular (in some circles) commentary on racism 30 years ago. He's been fighting the issue before it was cool to be fighting it.....
Keep up the good work John!!! And hoping the words I saw somewhere in an article abou the end of the Plain Sooken tour that said "See you next summer" also ring true!

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: John Mellencamp Plain Spoken 2016 Australia Tour Dates Cancelled
|
on: March 10, 2016, 10:27:50 pm

Wow I am sorry for all you Aussie fans! As psyched as I get for his shows here in the states if I had tix and got the rug pulled out from under me I would be crushed, as some of you are. Again very sorry!
A quick look at the size of the venues he was scheduled for leads me to believe the promoter over promised. Here in the states John is playing small theaters, like in the 2-3000 seat range, and even they do not always sell out. The small theaters are great, and I am happy to be there (and as you know he has stated he's done being a rock star) but it is a step down from arenas. Also I thought it was odd that the Aus shows were moved from summer to winter.
Purely speculation here but I would bet JM Inc was promised the world to come there so they said ok. Then when it looked like someone was going to lose their shirt it all fell apart. And perhaps when the promoter came back for concessions, well we can imagine what JM might have said. Again I know nothing, all above is just my worthless opinion. Very sorry to hear about his brother, but if that was the reason the April US dates would be cancelled, not June dates.
I have flown to JM shows and road tripped to many, and again my condolences to all you fans who lost money, and will not get to see this great show by a living legend. It just sucks. To paraphrase, "There's a void in your heart, and a hole in your dreams" Hopefully he will make it there in the future

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Introduce Yourself / Re: Youngest Mellencamp Fan?
|
on: April 27, 2015, 09:19:50 pm

Hey Brianna, very cool post. Glad to hear someone of your age is a fan, although I have to admit it seems a bit suspicious. Most everyone around here is, well, older. Your most likely are the youngest fan, at least on this board. He is my number one artist, and I have many favorites and go to a lot of concerts. One of the reasons I am such a big fan is I am about 10 years younger than him and his songs and lyrics have always "spoke to me" since the 1980's. I would not think he would "speak" to a 15 year old, but if he does that is great!!!! I have been to 2 of his shows this year, and have 3 more coming up this summer. It is a great, great show and John is performing well and seem to be really really enjoying it (and I have seen him a few times when I thought he was not enjoying playing). I hope, if you are as passionate as you say you are, that you find a way to go to the show. You will enjoy it. I am huge Bob Seger fan too, glad you saw him. I saw Bob open for Kiss back in the day! Good luck, and I hope to hear about how much you DID enjoy it on June 11th!! Rock on Detroit!! Ed

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Re: Atlantic City - Borgata Show
|
on: July 07, 2014, 02:11:03 pm

I too, was there last night, and share a lot of the sentiments aforementioned by Steve. One of the downsides of the internet is no surprises; I had peeked at the set list from earlier shows, and read about the brevity of the show, and because of such lost a lot of my enthusiasm for going. In fact on the way to AC I said to my wife " I am more excited to see John Eddie than John Mellencamp" ( John Eddie was playing at Bally's beach bar from 2-6 that day, and he was quite good as always). She was surprised as she knows JM is almost or at the top of my all-time faves list, and he is one we have traveled far to go see, and usually attend multiple shows per tour. So we went to the Borgata, me thinking he is just going to "mail in" the show and leave in a hurry. Well I was pleasantly surprised to see John in fine form and spirits; and my concerns about him mailing it in and /or my apathy were quickly eliminated. As said, Human Wheels was a good opener, the new song was ok on first listen, and the show was pretty much the same pace and song arrangements as the last tour(s), so no real surprises. Yes if you have seen multiple shows you know the “buddy” story all too well, but he added a few things and it is still fun to hear, made even better if you are around people whom have never heard it as they quite enjoy the banter. We were down front in the “Premier package” seats, and as usual there were a few people standing and people behind them (next to us) yelling and poking and pointing for them to sit down. My opinion is this is rock and roll, not the opera, stand the f**k up!, but I try to go with the flow and not be the only standee in a sea of sitters. Given the choice I will stand and do the lame white boy dance and “play guitar”. After the whiners gave up (and the standees did sit for the acoustic set) all was good, and like Steve said, just look around and see how much people are enjoying the show! Great stuff and I was SO HAPPY to be there (after all I am Mr. Happy Go Lucky . I hate to keep repeating Steve, but he speaketh many a truth: I too, always enjoy his shows and will not miss an opportunity to be at one. Sure I would like a longer set, more deep tracks, more stories, etc. etc., but we take what we can get and love getting it. If I would complain about anything it would be that I don’t believe there were any Mellenheads in the center front section, section 300 the first 7 or 8 rows, I have no facts to back this up but my opinion is they were all comp tickets for frequent gamblers. I forget what song but everyone was standing except most of the people in the section 300 rows 1-7. Did anyone from this board get tickets there? All in all was a great night (and day). John really seemed to be enjoying himself, and that feeling was shared by much of the audience, especially me! Let’s hope for a “Plain Spoken” tour, new songs and hopefully a new live show! Thanks to Tony and Sharon for all their hard work here (my wife says she saw Sharon walking through the casino)

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: John Mellencamp 2014 Summer Tour Ticket and Tour Questions
|
on: March 19, 2014, 01:29:35 pm

I had some trouble with the Atlantic City premium ticket sale getting past the "captcha" screen on my laptop, but the wife got through at about 10:20 no problem (I was using IE should've been using Chrome I guess)
anyway the best we could get was section 400 row 4, and later coming up was section 200 row 3 . The middle best section is section 300, did anyone get seats there? I am wondering if the Borgata is holding them for gifts to high roller gamblers or such, which would be very disappointing for 2 reasons: 1) I am not sitting there 2) John could have people in the front row who don't really care to be there, they are just there because the casino gave them the tickets.
Otherwise I am psyched, although it being a holiday weekend in Atlantic City the cost of going to this show is going to be at least 5 time the premium ticket price....oh well...I could stay home right? If anyone had any success in getting section 300 let me know.....
