So when did he get this??!!! Seriously - I think I would have noticed it in Nov. Why does he keep doing things and not telling us? "-somedays I still don't know what to do-" Mary in Michigan Oh Mary, that had me" laughing out loud" for sure! Made me laugh, too. AND if he did ask us he'd still be happily married to his present wife. LOL! Jane

Ya know - I was wondering the same thing. Hate being snarky about this, but good Lord, John, what the hell are you thinking and when are you going home to Indiana to help Elaine raise the boys!!!!! It appears that you are living in NYC now. Doesn't he say he always gets in trouble in NY and LA? Well................ It is also incredible to me that I should be upset about this - it has nothing to do with me or my life. I think all of us Mellenheads just became so invested and comfortable with the lifestyle that John and Elaine had. I do need to get over this, but.... jcooprx Well put. I keep thinking "Meg Ryan?!?! Is he nuts?" But, it really isn't any of my business. Still looking forward to Omaha. Jane

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Re: Kansas City Show - :(

Wow. We were at the same show and had vastly different experiences. While I don't love all the songs on the new albums, I was glad to hear them all. Heck, I don't love all the songs on all the old albums either and am glad to hear them live, too. I thought John Mellencamp put on two hours of pure bliss Friday night at the Midland and if I had had the smarts to buy tickets to STL on Saturday, I'd have driven down I 70 to see him do it all over again and if I didn't have to work, I'd have kept driving to Indy.
He's an artist. He is evolving and not playing the same old stuff. Didn't Rick Nelson have a song about only playing the old tunes?
Sorry you had a bad experience at the Midland, but please don't be throwing anything at John. Vote with your wallet. I've already got tickets for Omaha.

Perspectives are different. I thought that John seemed to be enjoying himself Friday night at the Midland. His voice was gravelly at times & I think he may have missed a lyric or two, but it was worth every cent I paid for my ticket. Some of the comments on the KC Star's site were critical and I think they missed it. Maybe they are the same people who yell "Cougar" during the concert. I was disappointed by the talking during the acoustic portions of the show. I loved the new twist on Jack and Diane. Overall, I was transported once again by Mellencamp and his band. I already have my tickets for Omaha and can't wait. I will admit that seeing the movie a 2nd time isn't high on my priorities, but seeing this show again is a MUST for me.
