Ready to rock again. Love all of JM's music, but soooooooo ready to plug things back in for a while.
Not sure it'll ever happen again as long as he and T-Bone are buds.
No complaints, love JM's music. Always inspiring to me. Just know he can still deliver the same powerful messages with an electric guitar and real drums! BTW, where is the lovely and talented Pat Peterson??? I miss her.

While I disagree with the opening post, we are all entitled to our feelings.
That said, it doesn't even seem possible to me that anyone would attend the "No Better Than This" show expecting to hear 20+ songs from the 80's.
I know this show is not for everyone. That is precisely why us fans who have lived through ALL of JM's re-inventions appreciate this show. We have heard the Greatest Hits for years live. Sorry this was your 1st show and you were not happy, but shock is not what you should be feeling here. It is what all of us Mellenheads are feeling about your reaction to a well-advertised experience.

It shouldn't be about which one rocks the hardest, it should be about which one has the strongest songs, there's no doubt in my mind it's the last two, i think John would agree.
I agree that it shouldn't. It just so happens that WWW is my fave and it rocked! The song writing and messages are just as evident in WWW as they are in LDLF and NBTT. All good stuff. The only release I still don't listen to entirely from time to time is LDLF. Love the LIVE version though. Much, much better!

Reading this reminded me of how much I LUV "Golden Gates" from Uh-Huh. That song is one of the best written songs of all time. For a young JM, he sang it with so much passion.
Sorry for straying.

Been dying for some people that hear what I hear on those 90's releases. WWW, HW, DN, MHGL and JM are each amazing in their own unique ways. WWW is my fave, but I love Key West, Just Another Day, The Big Jack, Miss Missy and Sweet Evening Breeze. OMG, Again Tonight was a killer rock hit as well as Now More Than Ever. Has anyone ever truly jammed out to "MELTING POT"? That electric guitar solo is RIDICULOUS!!! Whew, I get so amped up picturing JM plugging in again. Not sure that will ever happen. Still love ya John. You just don't give yourself enough credit for your 90's masterpieces.

That really stinks for you.
I saw JM in KC last Nov. when the tour started. I thought it was a treat to hear songs that John himself is proud of. I have as much interest in hearing Hurts So Good again as John has in playing it. I loved songs like Death Letter and Real Life.
All that said, I knew that after that show ended, there were going to be plenty of pissed off fans. I am not one of them, but I just knew. So he revamped Jack and Diane from 30 years ago, but why did he re-work "Walk Tall" from 2005? How come there was only one song from the 90's (my biggest gripe)? OK, play the 6 new songs, but why so much from LDLF???
Again, I loved the show, but I do understand what you are saying. That "Rockabilly" sound can be overkill after a while. I did like the Rock-n-Roll stretch to close the show though.

The man amazes me. I DO NOT instantly LUV everything John releases, especially of late. LDLF still has 6 songs that I'll never like. That said, I respect the hell out of what he is trying to do. Delia, on 1st listen, is pretty awesome. Nice job.
