MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: New live album slated for July release ''Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood''.

I agree with you Mike, I think that it would be awesome if John would release a few live albums of shows throughout his career. I attended my first John Mellencamp concert when I was 20, at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, IN (or Deer Creek, as John still calls it). This was during the Cuttin' Heads tour. Since that day I have attended at least 1 show on all of his major tours. I love all of John's music - the old and the new. I know that some of the songs I have been fortunate enough to hear in concert, I will likely never hear played live again. It would be great to be able to add them to my collection.
Brad mentioned the fact that Springsteen is allowing fans to purchase live versions of his shows online. I agree, I think that it would be great if all live concerts were available for purchase. Some other artists are doing this as well. About two years ago I attended a Jewel concert, and was able to purchase a code at the venue, which I was later able to redeem for an online download of the live show. Although I hope that John decides to offer something similar, I will not purchase anything unless it is authentic. I will not support someone who is profiting off of someone else's work without their consent.

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Re: Diamond Package question

I have always been a fan of John's VIP packages. I have never received a bad seat and the gifts have consistantly been unique. I like collecting the tour laminates that are usually included. For this tour, my fiancé and I were fortunate enough to get front row seats, so we are both very excited about that! I also really enjoyed the side stage seats that were offered during the Words and Music and Freedom's Road tours. Regardless of where I am sitting, I am always happy at a Mellencamp concert!

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Re: The Midwestern Rock REBEL has sold himself out

I agree with you, oberturn. I think the the ticket prices for this tour are reasonable. I have been to a couple of concerts within the last year where I have paid more money for tickets that were not even close to the stage. If people do not want to pay for the tickets, they should not buy them. John is certainly not selling himself out. Many people fail to realize that there are costs associated with touring, such as travel expense, promotional costs, and venue fees, in addition to paying members of the band. I am looking forward to the tour!!

I agree, I love live music. If John decides to release live recordings of his concerts, I would certainly purchase them. The Trouble No More live album from NYC was fantastic!

I live in Pullman, WA and attend a lot of concerts in the Spokane and Seattle area. My fiancé' and I found these ticket prices to be very reasonable. Many other shows that we have attended have been more expensive and did not come with the benefits included in the diamond package.

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: 2015 Plain Spoken Tour Questions & Answers

My fiancé and I purchased our diamond package tickets to see John in Vancouver BC. We were very happy with our seats, the pricing, and the diamond package in general. Thanks to Tony and Sharon for working so dilligently to allow Mellencamp fans to have a great concert experience. I have always purchased tickets through Mellencamp pre-sales or the fan club and have never had a bad experience. The side-stage tickets that were offered a few years back were great - and I am confident that these will be terrific, as well! Thank you so much!!

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: Farm Aid 2014 Announced!

Unfortunately due to my schedule I am not going to be able to make it to Farm Aid this year - I'm hoping that John does some shows in and around Washington State. I miss getting to see him so frequently when I lived in Indiana.
Has anyone heard if John is going to participate in a Farm Aid auction again this year? Last year my fiancé' and I purchased an awesome vintage signed poster that we had framed. I would like to purchase something else to add to our collection - and to help the family farmers the help keep our country going!

Mike,
I agree with you about the New Album. The different versions of classic songs and tempo changes are really unique. Every song on the original Trouble No More album was great - so it was awesome getting to hear them live. One of the highlights for me was John's version of Highway 61 - which rocked! I really enjoy listening to rare, live, or acoustic versions of songs. I hope that there are more to come!
John
