Thank you for sharing your talent and all of the old songs and videos (and new) (Hand to Hold On to, Small Town, Rooty Toot Toot, Etc.). We love the new stuff too! We saw you at IU last fall, it was awesome. Please come back and remember your roots. Thanks to you John for all you've done. Please don't forget us "Cutters". We love you! God Bless You!

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / New video idea!

I made a trip over to the Greene County, IN railroad viaduct, the "Tulip Tressle" with my family last Saturday (just west of Bloomington). The bridge is 180 feet tall and about a half mile long. I thought that that would be the perfect place for John to remake the "Rooti Toot Toot" music video, (the one by the huge bridge with Teddy Jo). He could hold a benefit concert, fill the field below with people and perform the song while dancing on top of the viaduct (just like the bridge in the original video). There could be a helicopter recording the whole scene for the new music video!! That would be awesome! http://www.nlcs.k12.in.us/oljrhi/brown/viaduct/viaduct.htm

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Video & Audio / Why are people still prejudice in this day and age?

I really like the song/video "Walk Tall". I feel it's one of John's greatest songs. Some jerk posted this on Youtube regarding that video: [i ]"Hey Mellon-head....Stay out of politics, and telling people what to think! Go back to singing your dumb songs about scarecrows, and sucking on chili dogs behind the Tasty-Freeze!"[/i]That just really pissed me off. Why in the hell are people like that? I just can't understand it.

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Tavis Smiley's Interview

Hi to John and Fans,
We live in Bloomington, IN and I played the Tavis interview for my wife Teri tonight. We thought about John's comment regarding living in Bloomington where he said he puts his "Mean Face" on when he doesn't want to talk to anybody. We have known about this for a long time. Teri is a waitress at Cracker Barrel and other wait staff who have seen John have mentioned that comment. I have always told Teri that if I was in his shoes, I would be the same way. I would expect people to respect my privacy in my town and I would not want to have to put on an act and sign autographs every time I went out of my house. Teri said tonight that John should write a song to the people of Bloomington to explain that, then she said he could say "I love my fans, but I'm a mean faced man..." John, we love you so much. Keep up the great work, we cant wait to see you in October. Several of our friends are going with us, you really make this town proud of you.

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Mellenmoments / Livin' in Bloomington is great!

I was on my way home from work tonight in my old beater, 86 Chevy pickup. I was going north on Adams St. between 6th and 7th street. I saw an old women in her 80's in a gaudy pink outfit sitting in an old wooden chair in her driveway. I looked at her and smiled because I thought to myself that I felt like I was in a John Mellencamp video. The lady waved and I waved back. I had an even bigger smile. Right after that a Mellencamp song came on the radio. That little moment made my day, (I know, but hey, I'm from Indiana).

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Introduce Yourself / Re: Welcome and hello!

Hi, I'm Dave and my wife is Teri,
I left Indiana in 1981 because I was a rebel in my teen years and I thought I hated Indiana so I joined the Navy to get away and see the world. I got really lucky and got to go on an "Around the World" cruise on a brand new aircraft carrier working an a brand new infra red system. Anyway, I was so proud to discover that wherever I went, I found people who loved John's music; Washington state, Austrailia, Europe, Hawaii, the Phillipines, Japan, etc. It made me really proud to be from Indiana. When my enlistment was complete, I came back to Indiana because I wanted to get an engineering degree from Purdue. I got a job fixing camcorders before school started and met the love of my life, Teri. She had a (what I call) a "shrine" to John Mellencamp in her apartment. She and her friends were going to all of his shows and I became an even more of a fan of John's music. The years went on and we went to his shows together. We had great times and danced! His music really makes us feel proud to be from Indiana! My destiny took me to Bloomington, IN where I live and work. I wrote a letter to John a few years ago before my wife's birthday to tell him what a fan my wife was and he was kind enough to send her a birthday card. Teri and I are 10 years younger than John, but when we listen to his music, we're kids again! We love his music!!! Thank you so much for being you, John Mellencamp! Dave
