MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: John Mellencamp Plain Spoken 2016 Australia Tour Dates Cancelled

Is it unfortunate that the Aussie tour was canceled? Absolutely. However, given the fact that John has lost his brother, I think the crass attitude around here is rather distasteful. John did not screw any of you over. Interesting how so many of you think so highly of yourselves. For the canceled events, I understand your money is being refunded. We don't know the exact reason for the tour being canceled, but regardless of the reason or reasons, it would be great if we could stop dogging John. We are his fans after all aren't we? Instead of getting uptight, think about John and his family and pray for them or keep them in your thoughts. It's never easy to lose a family member. John's music has helped many of us through our ups and downs, joys and sorrows, the least some of you could do is have a little compassion.

Great photo! I can't wait to see John again at the end of May. Glad to hear he looked happy. Can you believe the audience and the issues they're having with "Jack and Diane". At his Chicago Theatre show (2nd night), after the first verse, the audience started the chorus. Seems to be happening everywhere!

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: John Mellencamp Celebrates Record Store Day

I personally LOVE the fact that John participates and really believes in Record Store Day. He is so right about how the retail experience is as important as the music. Record stores are special places and there aren't many anymore. He's right, music truly is celebrated at record stores, resale shops are some of the best places to find music being celebrated because of the extensive vinyl selections as well as CDs and the passionate people who work there. It's evident that they love music and most people working at those stores are rather knowledgeable too.

I agree with you Lisa. Seems as though he's in denial about the dangers, which unfortunately, a lot of people are. The idea is, if it hasn't hurt me yet, it won't. No, it isn't a big accomplishment and certainly not one that I would be proud of but I think it goes back to trying to make light of something. When we know something is bad, but do it anyway, if we make light of it, it "automatically" becomes "better". It is very upsetting. I completely get where you're coming from and you certainly have the right to feel this way. My condolences about your mother.

Nice to "meet" you Jenny. Glad to hear you finally got to see John and take your son to his first ever concert. His concert is AMAZING and worth every penny. So happy to know you both had a great time. John is one of the best and his music only continues to get better.

Just by reading this small piece of the book, I can already tell I will love it. This is evidently written by a fan who not only "gets it", but can also see through and feel. I can only imagine the time and effort put into this, and I look forward to enjoying it. I saw the book in a store recently and thumbed through the bibliography, which was extremely impressive.
David, Thank you for your time and dedication to the man and his music!
