2  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Other People’s Stuff on: November 09, 2018, 02:55:14 pm
you are correct ....i should not have labeled "eyes on the prize" as a 'type' of music ....i just did not care for the song at all .... i'd like to hear others comment on the song

and to those that replied about how it was promoted ... you are right ...it's not a studio album
4  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Other People’s Stuff on: November 08, 2018, 04:08:41 pm
Well.... I have to be honest..... I thought the song stunk.     I am a big fan ...love his shows and energy...but this song does not cut it.    Disappointing ....it's not rock it's not country ....it's terrible.    If I introduced this song to non JM fans ...they'd say WTF is this ?   that was my thinking too

Most of the songs on the new album were already available on another artist's cd, etc.

I wish he put out 'new' stuff that wasn't available on iTunes etc already

i pre-ordered the album ....hope it's a lot better than this song

6  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Atlantic City Borgata on: April 27, 2016, 09:48:42 pm
Tried getting tix for the Atlantic City show at the Borgata ....I think the Borgata limits the pre sale seats to be average at best.

I'd prefer to pay a premium to get good seats .... The seats via the presale were row 16 and the other pair was on the side.

These are not that good ....anybody have any luck.

At the Borgata section 300 is center ...sections 100 n 500 are far to the sides ...not good and 200 n 400 are good if they are closer to section 300

Anybody have good luck with seats?

7  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Concert Review - North Charleston on: April 01, 2015, 08:52:08 am
Mellenheads - I have not seen any messages about John's concerts....so I thought I'd throw in my observations from a show last week.

I like to see John in a new venue if possible when he tours.  This year we were able to see his show in North Charleston at the Performing Arts Center.   What a fantastic venue ...not too big and not too small.

My initial thought - get good seats and go.   I just get an overall feeling of happiness with John and the band (relaxed)....they are professional and just outright good at what they do.   How lucky/blessed are we that he is playing in these small venues.

In past tours, it appeared more of a job...while I am sure that's still the case...the mixture of different types/style of music ...allowed the band freedom/flexibility.

What's interesting....John is still a rocker...but in this tour you also see a blues side (Stones in My Passway and If I Die Sudden)....a Van Morrison type singer....one where he stretches his singing style.   It showed....any my wife who has been to about 6 of the shows with me (who isn't a real big fan)....felt and saw the difference....it was the most fun she ever had.   She can see (over the years) that part of the reason they are so good is the continuity of the band.....she loves Mirium.....again, how lucky we are.

About the songs....I am not of fan of Lawless Times as the opener (I think it's the worst song on Plain Spoken).   Favorites - Minutes to Memories (always), love Small Town as a rock song, LOngest Days, and Isolation of Mister.

While Full Castastrophe was very different... I liked the different presentation/singing style.

I can't say I'm a fan of Jack and Diane as solo acoustic - but the common fan loves it.  Instead of 2 songs with Carlene Carter....I wish he'd pull out 2 from his 400 song catalog that we never heard.   But i understand he has to please the common fan.    And he always closes with a rash of kick ass rock and roll....I still enjoy them all.

In short....go go and go.   One of the better shows I've ever seen .... looking forward to the Red Bank, NJ show.

They (John and the band) get better as they get older ... don't miss them .....you never know about tomorrow.

9  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Artwork on all albums/cds not available on Iphones ...why not ? on: March 19, 2015, 12:30:44 pm
Iphone question/comment - not all artwork from albums/cds are available .....how come Huh

I know it's kind of trivial .... but I really like seeing a picture/the artwork of the album when I'm scrolling through all my Mellencamp albums/cds on my Iphone.

However, a lot of the albums/cds do not have the artwork

examples:
Life, Death, Love and Freedom
Words and Music Greatest Hits
Trouble No More
Uh-huh
American Fool

can't the artwork be sent to Apple so we can download the artwork/pictures Huh

Thanks for help in advance,

Steve

12  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Atlantic City - Borgata Show on: July 07, 2014, 12:52:00 pm
Just a few comments on John's show....these are all my opinions.

As always, I am grateful to see him whenever possible.   I never tire of seeing him and the
band perform.

As some had stated about his earlier shows....he started at about 8:10 and played until 9:30....so yes, it is short.

I am always thrilled to hear a 'new' song that hasn't been played in a while...so hearing HUman Wheels as the opener was great.  The next song....Troubled Man.....guessing from the upcoming new album was excellent....if it follows this type of theme...we will be happy/more his own stuff.

He then did 3 solo acoustic songs.   I am not fond of Jack and Diane and Small Town by himself...i want to hear a stripped down/acoustic version....but not just 1 guitar.   Probably the best song was LOngest Days ....him and Andy.

What I want to see is what was on that MTV unplugged series....all band members acoustically per se/jamming

He then goes into his classic rockers....ROCK in the USA, Authority Song, Pink Houses, etc....and everyone has a good time.  As in a lot of the shows at the Borgata Event Center (not the Music Box)....a lot of drinking...people moving into other seats, etc....standing in aisles.   I don't like it when they let others from the back stand in aisles.

Like most die-hard type fans...he has a vast repertoire and I wished he'd pull out 2-3 from the past ...whatever they may be.   I too wish he would extend his show 30 minutes....but who am to complain.   I feel like John is a family member who is older and I never know (with all that smoking) how much longer he will be on this earth.  So....whatever he 'gives' in a show I am grateful.   Look around when he plays Check it Out and Cherry Bomb and how happy people are...that's what it's about.

I will continue to see him as much as I can....as he says 'life is too short...even in the longest days".

Looking forward to the new songs.

Steve
