MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: John Moving to NYC?

Hey GeeGee, it's kind of funny that some people want our comments "policed" by the moderators, but their comments, especially the judgements, should be allowed. Look up the word opinion!!! GeeGee and I just seem to be like minded. And PLEASE, keep the bible out of this! My comments are consistent...I love JM and his work (always have), Elaine is a class act (always has been), and I have NEVER liked Meg Ryan (disliked her way before JM & MR). Yes, it's my opinion and I have a right to it.

I agree with "Gee Gee." Meg probably needs the publicity. Why didn't they show a picture of her? Beacause no one cares where she lives. I sure don't. Hooking up with her was the most disapointed I have ever been at JM. I have never liked Meg Ryan!!!!! Elaine is the perfect example of class and style. Meg Ryan is the perfect example of a "has been!"

My memory is horrible, but he did more of the old ones...Jackie Brown, Pink Houses, Check it Out, I Saw Her First, Jack and Diane, Cherry Bomb, Rocking in the USA. I know there were many more, but I can't remember. He didn't do as much talking as he does when it's a smaller group. There were 22,000 tickets for the concert. It was at the football stadium at WKU. There were tons of people there. It was GREAT!!!!!

Just got home from the Bowling Green concert. It was spectacular!!!!! One of the best I've even been to. I have seen John several times but the music was wonderful!!!! There was a great violin tune that Miriam did. Would anyone know the name of it? I simply loved it. It sounded a little like "The Old Rugged Cross," but I am musically challeged and am not sure. I could have stayed there all night it was sooooo good!! Did miss "Hurt so Good" and I just can't get used to the new version of "Jack and Diane," but other than that, it was perfect!!!
Independence Bank gave Farm Aid $50,000! That was great too.

How exciting! I was very shocked to see this on the front page of the newspaper today. I'm going to have to open up an account at this bank. I live really close to BG. This is a dream come true. WOW!!!! I missed the last Kentucky concert because I was recovering from breast cancer. Can't wait!!!!!!

Oh that's very sad. He wrote some of my favorite songs. Cancer is a very scary word. I had planned to go see John in November in Louisville, but was diagnosed with breast cancer about the time the tickets went on sale. So I held off because I'm not sure how I will feel at that time. I have previously seen John several times in Louisville and last November at the Ryman in Nashville. I live about equal distance from Louisville and Nashville. Hopefully, my health will improve and I can see him again soon.

I know I will get rotten tomatoes thrown in my face, but I tend to agree with you Rene. The worst part is, if we the loving fans feel this way, how does the public in general feel? In John's defense, we all have our bad days when we just want to lounge around. Meg doesn't know any color but black...boring. I can remember how good John looked in just a plain, clean, white t-shirt.

John does deserve to be happy, but as I've said on here before, I can't stand Meg Ryan. Never have liked her. It has nothing to do with their relationship. That's his choice, it just seems like a bad choice to me. Yes, they do look happy, but surely anyone with eyes can see that Elaine is a much better "catch" than Meg. Yes, I still say Elaine got her a "hottie."

NON-JOHN DISCUSSION / Music You Like / Re: Bruce Springsteen

You certainly have a right to your opinion, however, I totally disagree. "The Boss" as you put it, is not the boss of anything in my opinion. Selling a certain number of records doesn't prove anything to me. In fact, an artist who sells a lot of records just means that the mainstream or crowd happen to like them. I do not like Mellencamp because he is popular with the crowd. I don't think John cares if he is popular with the crowd. Actually a reason I like him. Again, Springsteen is not in the same ballpark as Mellencamp.

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: WE NEED JOHN MELLENCAMP IN WISCONSIN!

I hope more and more people keep protesting in Wisconsin. I am a teacher, married to a retired teacher and have a son who is a state employee. Educated people do not go into state jobs for the pay, they go into the field for the personal rewards and making a differnce in someone's life. If Wisconson has it's way, others states will follow. That will be a travesty. Then state emplyees will have to become "greeters" at Wal-mart in addition to their regular jobs just to get by. Write a song for us John!
Sincerely, KY Teacher
