Hope this article from the London Free Press helps you out -- Tony has nothing to do with this decision. It appears as though you and your son were looking forward to the show, but not many others in London were. Read below:

John Mellencamp won't be getting too intimate with London fans next month.

The Indiana rocker's intimate, theatre-style date at Centennial Hall on Oct. 28 has been cancelled, industry sources confirmed Tuesday.

The evening was to begin with the documentary It's About You being screened at 7 p.m., followed by an 8:20 p.m. concert.

The cancellation was due to "scheduling conflicts," often an industry phrase for poor advance ticket sales.

Ticket prices for the Oct. 28 show had been given as $81.50, $136.50, and $265.75 for a VIP package.

Refunds are available at point of purchase, promoters said.

The late October gig would have been at least the third in London for Mellencamp since the rocker, then known as John Cougar, had a memorable on-stage meltdown at old J.W. Little stadium.

Back in the day, Mellencamp tossed a cymbal and more at an Aug. 30, 1982 concert. The rocker was unhappy about appearing on a bill headlined by the Beach Boys. So he hurled a cymbal and other drum equipment into the crowd at set's end.

I have no further info to share, John's management cancelled the concert due to a scheduling conflict. Hopefully the other shows in Canada are not too extremely far to travel to for you if you want to catch a show on this tour.

While Hamilton is a bit away from London and not the easiest to get to it is fairly close (and on a weekend) and for me at least the show was absolutely worth it.  Saw it a few times when it did the Ontario rounds last winter.

It didn't make sense to play London before Hamilton anyways.  If you're driving from Montreal to London the next day, you're driving an hour and a half past Hamilton.   So you'd be doing some backtracking.. Than to get to Grand Rapids you'd drive past london again on the way.... So if it wasn't selling well anyways, why bother...  Just my opinion
