Title: Farm Aid
Post by: mtotch123 on August 17, 2011, 02:58:06 pm
Not sure where the link is for discussing Farm Aid...so I'll start here!

Performances were good.  Lukas Nelson and John & Band were the highlights as far as I was concerned.  They rocked the place....other performances were good but kind of laid back.  Performers didn't do a whole lot of talking about the farm situation like they did last year. Pretty much played and got out of there.  Sets seemed smaller.  Also thought last year's decor was better.  They went kind of high tech this year.

John seemed so serious....very intense...said nothing except a thanks for coming when he was done.   Oh - he did introduce Neil or Willie....I forget.  And either his voice is going or he's trying some new style.....singing had many rough parts.

Venue was nice but seats were really crammed in!!  The displays, information, food, etc. was excellent.  Lots to see and learn.  All in all I wasn't as impressed this year as last with the performances.

Also a suggestion....put the stage up higher.  We were row 14 center and could not see Dave Matthews at all cuz everyone stood up and he was sitting down.

But it was a beautiful day in a beautiful city with good entertainment.

Anyone else....?

Didn't Neil say quite a bit?

Neil was one that did say quite a bit...but not as much as last year.  I'm not saying it's good or bad...just saying it was different.  Almost like people had maybe complained that there was too much talking so artists were trying to tone it down.

I'd like to see the headliners do a 90 minute set.

I think 90 min. per headliner is a bit too long!LOL! It would take all evening with no room for other artists.

Then don't have so many opening acts.

An hour for a headliner is not asking much when tickets are so darn much to be remotely close.

Great show!

My $180 ticket was for about 2.5 hours of Mraz, Matthews and Mellencamp.

Why have we not seen any videos from John's performance from Farm Aid as promised?
Are we waiting for closer to the Fall Tour before someone will post them?
We got the audio but I need to See Him!

We are waiting on farm aid to post the video (as they have stated they would be doing) from this years Farm Aid. Hopefully it won't be much longer.

We posted Authority Song on the homepage of Mellencamp.com. It was the first video Farm Aid has posted of John's set. Looks like they are going to dole out the videos slowly over time.
