JOHN PLAYING MEMPHIS' BEALE STREET MUSIC FESTIVAL
John will headline the Bud Light Stage on Saturday, April 30, 2011! His performance there is of special significance in light of the fact that much of his "No Better Than This" album was recorded at nearby Sun Studio where Elvis Presley, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash and so many made their mark. The Beale Street Music Festival features over 60 acts on 4 stages in scenic Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis, TN. For more information and ticket details click HERE.

IT'S ABOUT YOU DOCUMENTARY TO PREMIERE AT SXSW FILM FESTIVAL
The documentary shot on Super8 film during the course of John Mellencamp's six-week 2009 summer tour with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and chronicles the making of John's newest album No Better Than This will have its film festival premiere March 12th at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival at the prestigious Rollins Theater.
It's About You was made by filmmakers Kurt and Ian Markus. A hour long version of the 79 minute documentary has been screening on John's tour prior to his performance. This film is far removed from the conventions of standard-issue "rockumentaries" and serves as a think piece about the battering of American society by globalization, greed and the transitory nature of its cultural touchstones.
The film conjoins Mellencamp's songs with images of a nation wracked by malaise and decline with contemplative narration written and voiced by the elder Markus. It's worth noting that Mellencamp's journey is the film's leitmotif but that the artist is never specifically interviewed; there are virtually no "talking heads" seen or heard in the naturalistic piece. This is not a retrospective film with interviews. 'It is of the moment.'
