Title: JM Plays "Pink Houses" with Billy Joel Post by: walktall2010 on June 12, 2011, 12:00:24 am From Billy Joel's colossal Shea Stadium farewell concert on July 16, 2008, John was one of four special guests Billy had join him on stage that night. It reunites John, for at least a brief moment, with backup singer Crystal Taliefero, who has been a member of Billy's band since 1989. Prior to this performance, she had last played with John on the "Big Daddy" album. Billy was introducing her right before he stunned everybody and introduced John (the audience wasn't aware beforehand who the special guests were). This is straight from the official DVD release. It's a great performance and wonderful video and sound quality.

wondering if the "gasoline station lyrics" were unique for this performance or if John used to change this second verse before or later? Title: Re: JM Plays "Pink Houses" with Billy Joel Post by: Mellenfan71 on June 24, 2011, 03:37:38 pm Is Joel still touring these days?
Title: Re: JM Plays "Pink Houses" with Billy Joel Post by: walktall2010 on June 24, 2011, 11:43:43 pm Yes, he still tours. His last tour was with Elton John and ended in March 2010. He has no plans to return to the road right now, but I'd bet he'll be back out there in 2012. However, he's inexplicably stopped writing songs -- his last album was 1993's River of Dreams, so it looks like we won't be getting any new music from him. "I'm no longer interested in pop music," he said recently. Bizarre.

Title: Re: JM Plays "Pink Houses" with Billy Joel Post by: Smalltownboy on June 29, 2011, 08:45:48 am Like many other artists, Joel has made his mark in the music industry. I'm sure he still writes and we may one day see him release another album.
This is a nice performance by the team of Mellencamp & Joel. Mike |
