17 lettin' me (ride into town)
reisa gerber

When I was sweet and low sixteen
I met a man named doctor strangelove
I did my hair
I cut my nails
He stole away my time
We started out as strangers
But we ended up as l.u.v.v.e.r.s.
"Check it out" the program
Of our favorite broadway show
We went for sweet expresso
We split a dozen donuts
Sharing time in crowds of plenty
Greenwich Village and colored lights
Our family time we cut to nothing
Sitting cold and frail,
Deaf and dumb and curing blindness
Signing off in braille
It really all was relative
All the love we had to give
Out in California where the midnight moon was three AM
But we understood each other
Our sisters and "they're crabby" brothers
And we promised if we made it
They could come and blubber
We promised if we made it
They could come and cry
When I was sweet and low sixteen
I met a man named doctor strangelove
...I did my hair
I did my nails...
He stole away my time..
Chorus:
Sliding on in to Easy Street
Life can be hard in a heartbeat,
Telling you WHAT you have to feel
Tell you WHAT you have to do
You have the advantage, babe,
You're splitting with my blue tattoo
.
The Mush Room

They took away her toys and they said they'd make her pay
Like a cat without her claws who had the nerve to "tell the boss..."!*
But everyone and his friend "jo"
Turned her down told her where to go
And she paid the cover without a lover
And then she got into legal trouble
They said "She treated us so awful"
Like it wasn't hot in Istanbul
Like nobody rots in Pakistan or India or Canada
And they said she had a secret way to cast a spell
Bewitchin' fright
Then she drove a car to Mexico and swung the wheel to the right
And then she'd smile and laugh and jest
She certainly was quite a pest
And then they said "goodbye" and wished her all the "Love and Happiness"
But everyone has troubles getting it together
Like a pea in a pod or "pesces au grats" or a prayer to God or a byrd on a feather
And those who could help her shoot straight from the hip
Without so much as checking a list
COULD NOT BE FOUND to care and support
Hidden barbs and narcottic resorts
But it wasn't like she belonged in the pen
As to where she committed a crime and when
But they "shut her up" at no amount $$$
And all her claims,
They didn't count
And those debts she had made her feel so bad
She had her mom but she lost her dad
And the lemon and vanilla icing caking in the snow?
Because in the end,  man,
"who you are" is not necessarily the way to go
The way to go without baring arms
The inside wish for peace and karma
 I said,
"Come join the crowd at "The Mush Room", mance
Where the solo performers just get up ☝and dance!

hopeful medley
I used to be that lady's friend
We used to hang out at the Commons
Hard times
Hard times
Dragging me down
No aging southern comfort from my wine cellar
Because she came from the Acridzona sand
On the other side of a desert town

But when the red red robin
Came bob bob bobbin along
She cried to me
She lied to me
And I let her into my love 💘with a song
And she gave me her colors
And she gave me her numbers
And it sent her on vacation to Sand Ste. Marines
We ✔ the lines out
And the spaces
And the 4H summer camp latrines

So we set the world on 🔥fire
And we throw the water on the flame
And when it's out
We start to shout
But she says "drink up"* and we drink again.
And hell, I couldn't blame her
For calling "so and so"* out by name
Ban de soleil and saltwater taffy,
It never showed  its face again....

'Cause to seed him walking around in that shirt
Was the tippytoe secret of our nitty gritty dirt
Hey
I used to be that lady's friend
But I'm bound to leave her in the end.
The End

When someone's dirty laundry
Takes on a stinky smell
The colors and the permapress
The wrinkles in the towel
You wanna do it with your heart ❤and soul
You add a little pardon
To your clean white linen
And your fancy French cologne

 "Ready, aim, 🔥fire!"
You point the way to better living
The wine cellar or the buyer
We all could better at l.u.v. and forgiving
So if we see a need for positive change
When all our dreams fall through
We just might let some pointers in to our conscious mind
And rearrange the furniture in our livin' room

Sometimes we can see the difference
In our struggles to be free
"Femmez la bush" and "hobknob" at "a cushy job"
Like an "upper class snob"
While begging petty change, man and fooling a trusting human being
So "push off", poor angel,
Heaven or hell
You bought a ticket and you never even showed your SELF
So break my ❤ heart before we start
Devil down below
"Boy" you say "Please don't start"
We have one more time to come
And one more time to go.

Control Yourself
For Charlie

When I reached the point in time
Living the sump!e single life
I saw a boy of simple thought
Drink a glass of wine at the bar next door
I put a quarter in the jukebox
Playing' "Two out of three ain't bad"
Like a bat out of hell doing all I could
Singing "please don't let me be misunderstood"
I hoped that someone would rescue me
This s-h-i-t had made a mess of me
I wanted to do what was best for me
Like an "on the beat" policeman arresting me
He told a sister or two my story
He looked embarrassed and said "I'm sorry"
But he never said a word about it
B!uegreen eyes that saw me shout it
When I reached the point in time
 ???living the simple single life
Where my behavior depended on it
She said "control yourself"
And that ended it.
