MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: "Ghost Brothers" Q&A with Stephen King
|
on: May 26, 2011, 09:03:20 am

I have been excited for "Ghost Brothers" to come together. Stephen King is our local hometown celebrity much like John is to Seymour. I think the collaboration will be amazing. Stephen has always been a lover of good music. Got to hear him and his band a time or two. He owns a radio station in town and I can always find a JM song when I tune in.

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Articles / Re: 1984 Uh-Huh Article

Thanks for posting another great article.
It was interesting to note how much of what John said was important to him all the way back in 1984 has really come to be with his last two albums. I'm glad he never stopped moving toward the music he's doing now. I've seen him many times but I've never seen him seem to be enjoying performing as much as on this tour.

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Promote John / Review on Ticketmaster
|
on: February 23, 2011, 11:17:50 am

Ticketmaster is sending out emails regarding the Radio CIty Music Hall show offering up a format to review the event. I think it would be great to see how many community members we can get to respond. This is the only show that I have purchased through Ticketmaster on this tour, but they probably are doing it for all the shows.

MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / New York City, NY / Radio City Music Hall
|
on: February 12, 2011, 04:49:17 pm

Since I can't seem to think about much besides the show in New York, I was checking out RCMH's information site and found this:
Radio City Music Hall was created by John Rockefeller with the help of the Radio Corporation of America and theatrical genius S.L. “Roxy” Rothafel during the Great Depression. The interior was designed by relatively unknown decorator Donald Deskey, who created an “American” dream. Radio City is the largest indoor theater in the world, with 160 feet in length and a ceiling that reaches 84 feet. The Radio City Music Hall has a “Stage Door Tour” that is one hour and takes individuals through the interior of the Music Hall. Tour times are Monday through Sunday from 11am to 3pm.
We'll be too tired from dancing to come back for any guided tour, but it's kind of interesting to read about the size of the venue, and it's history. It's going to be a really great location to see JM!

MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Mellencamp.com Blog / Re: Leg 2 Kick Off - Lowell, MA Report

It was a great night! I've always wanted to see John's art and I didn't know that his paintings would be there, so it felt like the welcome mat was out before I even entered the hall.
The auditorium was old with creaky wooden floors and lots of character. Someone came around and told those of us in the first 3 rows that the area in front of the stage was our dance floor for the taking! Anyone seated further back was not so lucky but by the end of the show agile fans had no problem getting over seats to come down front.
John seemed like he was having a really good time. He smiled and danced all night long. The band was spot on as usual. My personal favorites of the night were Jackie Brown and What If I Came Knocking. Honestly, who am I kidding? I loved every moment. The encore was not expected but seemed almost impromptu after he and Andy had exchanged a quick couple of words. A great ending to what to me, was a perfect night.
