Wow this a fan page, who cares about anything but John making music. Whatever leads him into the direction of creating more music, I'm for that. Its a complete waste of time analyzing someone else's life.

Changing the subject to music (you know what John does best) what do people think of the farm aid performances that they post on this site. I think hes trying way to hard to make his voice sounds gritty, it sounds real real bad. Just my opinion, because I really like his voice and the way it sounds on his newest album but now its like hes going way to far with it.

Please post your opinions, I am really curious to know what Mellenheads think?

Kicker I agree with you 100%, the poor guy needs to loosen up a little.  Hes had a hell of a good life, 5 kids, beautiful wifes, his father is still around, survived a heart attack, written hundreds of great songs, had some amazing tours (including this one), rock and roll hall of fame, farm aid, etc... and yet when you hear him talk its like none of that existed.  It does seem insulting and John you arn't that old buddy.

I have to agree, the lyrics in Life, Death, Love & Freedom might be his best but I simply can't get through that album.  I like Mellencamp because he because his music creates a feeling.  For some reason that album doesn't do it for me.  I think Nothing Better Than This has nearly as good of lyrics as LDLF but has alot more passion in it.  For me the best albums to listen to from start to finish are.

1. Big Daddy
2. Nothing Better Than This
3. Whenever We Wanted
4. Lonesome Jubilee
5. Freedoms Road
Mr. Happy Go Lucky/John Mellencamp are great as well but have a few throw out songs

Pete thats awesome, I love blasting Melting Pot in the car.  Sweet Evening Breeze is great as well. Whats makes his 90s music so good is the diversity, I mean he really went out on a limb with the sound he was creating.  I think one the most underrated funs songs is "Life is Hard"

I think John probably doesn't like those songs anymore because they were layered and more about the sounds and he no longer is into that stuff.  Which is too bad because those albums really showcase his bands amazing abilities. 

Mellencamp has clearly stated what this tour would sound like plus there are plenty of videos online, so you really should know what your getting yourself into going to this concert.  Personally I loved the show I saw in Chicago.  That being said Petenkaren I totally agree with you, why doesn't he play some songs from the 90's, I mean he could put the same twist on those as well. As a younger Mellencamp fan I always wish Id hear more from those late 90's albums, haha. But I think he has done a fair job with the song selections.

I have actually been thinking about this for awhile, if you have the super bowl in Indianapolis then you have to put John on at half time.  We shall keep our fingers crossed.

Hey Im thinking they look pretty good together, they look like they should be a couple.  As much as a love Elaine maybe she was just a little too young and too good for John.  Plus I just read an article (that I will list bellow) that Meg wants John to stop smoking.  Hey if she can accomplish that or even get him to cut down again which it is reported he has, then thats just great.  I need those lungs to stay good for another 10 years of great music.

Unbelievable, i just listened to it.  Probably the best cover he has ever done.  Wish it would be put on itunes I'd buy it in a second.  Ill just have to convert it from youtube I guess.
