1021  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Tech Support / Re: Picture Upload? on: August 08, 2010, 03:00:15 pm
How can we upload pictures to our profile? I keep getting an error message when I try to upload my own. I have even tried to resize the picture and upload. I cannot upload my own picture with url either, and the personalized picture does nothing (can't add anything, click anything).

I also tried to add a picture to my post yesterday, but could not do that either?

I know I am missing something obvious Wink

Thanks!

There are several technical/setup issues that aren't right with the Community. I'm going to have the programming team look at it early this week and hopefully get it all straightened out. If it's not fixed a few days please pose the question again!
1022  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Suggestions / Re: John Wanted in GB on: August 08, 2010, 02:59:16 pm
When is John coming to Great Britain?  We are in desperate need for his challenging works.  Who else is doing what JM is doing?  No One!!

There is a chance of a Europe leg on the new tour, keep your fingers crossed!
1023  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Colorado on: August 08, 2010, 09:14:39 am
There are more dates expected on the No Better Than This tour. More legs are expected for early and spring 2011 that should cover a good hunk of the country!
1024  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Trivia / Re: Trivia Game on: August 08, 2010, 09:10:35 am
Took me a second to figure out how to see the old threads. On the CCB message board down at the bottom left below where the threads show be there is a box that says "Show:" and you have to drag that down and select "All dates" then the threads will appear!

Another tip for those wanting to harvest the content off of the Club message board is go into your My Home and then click display preferences. You can then tweak how many messages display on a page. Mine is set to 99 but I am not sure what the limit is.

In most browsers you could then just save the pages through the file/save menu. It would likely lose all images but the text would survive.
1025  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Tech Support / Trouble Recovering User Name/Password? on: August 07, 2010, 08:58:54 pm
Here are some tips for how to recover your user name and password for use on the Mellencamp.com Community.

If you were a registered member of our sites before (such as ClubCherryBomb.net) you probably already have a user name and password.

Start by going to http://www.mellencamp.com/community.html

RECOVERING YOUR USER NAME
Click the link "Forget Your Username?" and put in the email address you would have registered with us in the past with.

Check your inbox for that email address in a few minute and return to the page above.

Try logging in with that user name we emailed and your password.

RECOVERING YOUR PASSWORD
If you do not know your password click "Forget Your Password?" and enter in your user name and the email address we have on file. You will get another email with a new password emailed to you. Use that password and your user name to log into the site!

Please note we currently don't have a method for you to change the password the system generated for you so be sure to save it.

ALTERNATE - SIGN UP FROM SCRATCH WITH NEW EMAIL ADDRESS
An alternative to the above is if you have a different email address would be to sign up as a new user using your other email address and pick out a new user name.

If you need further help please email [email protected]

Thanks

They are still alive in the old message board if someone wants to copy/paste some of them over. I have turned on the hidden forums on the Club Cherry Bomb message board.
1027  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: No Better Than This - Fall Tour Ticket Question on: August 07, 2010, 08:38:34 pm
Is there any limit to number of tickets we can buy? Maybe.

this is posted somewhere but i missed it.

also, I am really concerned about scalpers

There is a 4 ticket limit per Community Member per show. Scalpers are sadly a way of life. The best tickets we offer will be required to have will call pick up, this deters scalpers to a degree. We also are going to post the presale password very close to the start of the presale to help deter them from being spread around.

There were a good number of scalpers in the old PAID club too, it wasn't as good of a detriment as you would hope.
1028  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Refunds for Cherry Bomb Members? on: August 07, 2010, 08:31:45 pm
PAID Members in good standing as of August 1st are going to get a $40 store voucher emailed to them in about the next week.

Make sure you read the update posted on the home page of ClubCherryBomb.net that announced that.

An email about this went out to the official mailinglist by accident last night, it was the start of the message we plan send out in a few days once we get all of the technical details done.

Be on the look out for the email late this week.
Tony

Hello,

Just wondering if a refund will be offered to those that were unfortunate to pay into the fan club before the technical issues, and after which all fans were given the same access to the fan club as paying members?

Thanks

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - John Mellencamp is taking a break from “Rockin’ in the USA.”

The singer watched his son, Hud, fight on Thursday afternoon in the 10th annual Ringside World Championships. The amateur boxing event features 1,500 fighters from eight countries and runs until Saturday at the KCI Expo Center in Kansas City.  The fighters range in age from 8 to 74 years old.

“I’m more nervous for him fighting than I ever am walking on stage,” Mellencamp said. “He’s kind of an odd duck to have a kid from his background being able to compete at this level.”

Mellencamp rooted on his son with his wife Elaine, a former super model. Hud Mellencamp, who also fought in the event last year, won his fight and will compete again on Friday.  John stood close to the ring to get a close-up view during his son’s fight.

“It’s really cool,” Hud said. “He comes to most of my fights.”

John Mellencamp was supposed to play with Bob Dylan at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City on Saturday. But he canceled playing with Dylan, so he could watch his son.  Mellencamp will perform with Dylan on Sunday at a concert in Lincoln, Nebraska.

A friend of John Mellencamp introduced boxing to Hud several years ago.  Hud has been hooked ever since. The 16-year-old plays football, but he says boxing is his favorite sport.

“I just like it a lot,” Hud Mellencamp said. “It’s what I do all day. It’s what I dream about.”

Hud fought in the 138 pound weight class. Kansas City boxing trainer John Brown also works with him. The Mellencamps on Monday stopped by the Turner Golden Gloves Boxing Club in Kansas City, Kansas to have Brown give Hud some tips.

“It’s like a solo sport,” Hud said. “No one can mess you up if they’re on your team. You’re the only win or loss factor.”

Hud says he has no singing ability and can’t play any instruments. But he enjoys music. For now, he plans to see where boxing takes him.

“It was his choice,”  John Mellencamp said.  "He had the focus, endurance and the strength to do it, so that’s what he wants to do. He gets in the ring and it’s just him."

Kudo's to all involved.        Any word on shows in the NYC area?
1031  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: Login / Pre-sale issue on: August 07, 2010, 11:17:29 am
What you mean by the presale still wants you to set yourself up.

If the site sees you as logged in (aka you have a logout box at the top left of the site navigation) you are logged in and you will see a password on the day of the presale.

If you have ever picked out a user name/password on our sites (like ClubCherryBomb.net) that is your Mellencamp.com user name/password.
1032  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: No Better Than This - Fall Tour Ticket Question on: August 06, 2010, 10:22:17 pm
Will the Premium Ticket Package also go on sale at the same time as Mellencamp.com early tickets!  Can not wait!!!! Rick Herold

Yes the premium package will go on sale at the same date/time as the general presale. It will be a different option on most shows purchase page.
1033  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: Does John play with Dylan? on: August 06, 2010, 08:52:30 pm
John plays in the slot before Bob Dylan. The time varies but John plays in the daylight and Dylan goes in just as it gets dark typically depending on time zone. John will play approximately 65 minutes and Dylan will play closer to 90 minutes. On the 2009 tour John and Bob did not join each other on stage.
1034  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: No Better Than This - Fall Tour Ticket Question on: August 06, 2010, 07:01:52 pm
First off please head to the home page and read the new article I posted called No Better Than This Presale Details - http://www.mellencamp.com/news.html?n_id=718

Also ticket prices are posted in the blue i balloon on the tour page.

There probably will not be any kind of a color coded map on the venue or ticket sellers website showing where the various ticket prices are located in the venue.

If fact I don't typically have access to that kind of information as to where each price level of tickets are located in a given venue.

It's possible if you call the venue box office the day before the presale they may be able to explain it to you. They would be the experts.

will we know before the presale where the seating is in correlation with the ticket prices?

Fall 2010 Leg of the No Better Than This Tour Announced!

John Mellencamp and his band are set to embark on the first leg of the No Better Than This Tour in late October following the August 17th release of his Rounder Records debut album, No Better Than This. The tour, designed as a uniquely formatted “evening with,” brings Mellencamp’s music to theater-sized venues, a rare opportunity to experience one of America’s most iconic songwriters and performers in an intimate setting, highlighting all phases of his artistry.

The tour, anticipated to continue through the Spring of 2011, will kick off on October 29th in Bloomington, IN, where Mellencamp and his family make their home. It continues for four weeks bringing Mellencamp, his band and music to audiences in Nashville, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and three additional Indiana markets of South Bend, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis with further tour dates pending.

The tour will feature classic Mellencamp material associated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee over the course of his 35-year-long career as well as the new music from No Better Than This. The new album was produced by T Bone Burnett and recorded in three historic locations in the American South: Savannah’s First African Baptist Church, Sun Studio in Memphis and Room 414 of San Antonio’s Gunter Hotel where Robert Johnson recorded in 1936. The sessions were documented on a 55-year-old mono tape recorder using just one vintage microphone at each location. Rolling Stone’s review of the album noted, “Mellencamp has never sounded looser or easier on a record,” suggesting the artist was “channeling spirits and stepping into period styles. They fit him perfectly."

As a reflection of the diversity of styles and material that have been a hallmark of Mellencamp’s eclectic career, the concerts are formatted into three segments. These showcase John Mellencamp in an acoustic context, fronting a small combo recalling blues/country and rockabilly roots and with his full rock band. Musicians backing Mellencamp include Michael Wanchic (guitar), Andy York (guitar), Miriam Sturm (violin), John Gunnell (electric and upright bass), Dane Clark (drums), and Troye Kinnett (accordion/keyboards).

Of special note is the fact that the tour’s “opening act,” is a documentary film by Kurt Markus entitled It’s About You. Shot on Super8 film over the course of last year’s Bob Dylan-John Mellencamp-Willie Nelson tour of minor league baseball stadiums, it chronicles the creation of No Better Than This while serving as a cinematic ‘think piece’ on the state of the country at the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. Markus, whose still work has put him in the front ranks of contemporary American photographers, has been cited for his extraordinary vision for his work documenting the American West and is the recipient of Life Magazine’s Alfred Eisenstaedt Photography Award. Ticket holders are urged to get to their respective No Better Than This Tour venues in advance of the film’s 6:30 PM start time.

Mellencamp noted, “I’m very excited to have the opportunity at this time in my life to go on tour and present these songs in this manner.”

Fans should log on to www.mellencamp.com for the most up-to-date concert and ticket on-sale information.
