1  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: New album/tour in 2020? on: March 29, 2020, 11:24:54 am
I agree with everything that everyone is saying here,  ROCK ON JOHN!  I can't add better to everyone's comments here.

I would  like to ask though, anyone out here have any idea whether there will be a genre change in this new material and is anyone collaborating with John on this new music?
2  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: Who is playing what? on: October 13, 2019, 03:48:54 pm
When speaking to the masses, his best to me is still "Rain on the Scarecrow" and i figure John must think the same because that song has stayed in the band's repertoire of songs played in all the Farmaid as well as recent shows!

"Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation
This land made me proud
And son I'm just sorry there's no legacy for you now
Rain on the scarecrow
.."

Oh my gosh, you saw the band and John play "Between a laaugh and a Tear"?  I have always wanted to hear them play that song!  I remember John saying he is not a juke box; so just happy he's not retiring anytime soon!  Are you going to go to Farm Aid in Wisconsin too?

I have to admit, each CD i play, i have my favorite few songs; but i rewind my CD's weekly of just JM, like Mellencamp "Words and Music" and there are too many songs on there to name one, since this is a greatest hits CD set; but "Wanna Say Thank You" is just an awesome track of when John started to take a turn away from all the past music and move on to other forms he enjoyed.  Love "Mr. Happy Go Lucky" with "Key West Intermezzo" and "Just Another Day".  his self titled album in 98, "Mellencamp" , I played a groove into "I'm Not Running Anymore", "Eden is Burning", "Fruit Trader", "Miss Missy" he's just got TOO many great songs to name just a few".

Thanks for the post, i love to think about the favorites and that can change as i rewind through the CD's too!

Rain on the Scarecrow, without a doubt, great commentary on the plight of the small farm/farmer wrapped up in an awesome song!!!
7  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Polls / Re: SCARECROW VS. LONESOME JUBILEE - CLASSIC ALBUM CLASH on: March 10, 2019, 05:25:37 pm
I can't vote these song parings individually as both albums are, without question, amazing; but I believe the Scarecrow album is the dearest and truest album to so many hearts and minds, surely the best album of that era, in my mind, of any artist or band!!!

We saw the kick off tour show in South Bend, IN.  John might be 67; but his songs are truly ageless to those that love his music.  The band members may show age; but they too are ageless when watching the show, so much energy, still such an enjoyable band to enjoy in concert!

Thank you John and band!

I think it's a wonderful account John tells about what inspired him to write the song; and there is so much truth in the words of this song, thank you John!
10  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Tour Talk / Re: ???South Bend Set List?????????? on: February 16, 2019, 08:19:40 pm
Hello Walktall 2010,

Quoting one of the band's concert appearance reviews,
'On Thursday, John Mellencamp took the stage in South Bend to promote the release of his 24th studio album, “Other People’s Stuff.” '

I agree, John's 90's music was amazing stuff.  How he could think that those songs might have been lesser accomplished music, sad to read.  "Key West Intermezzo, Just Another Day, Not Running Anymore, Fruit Trader, Eden is Burning", who would say this is lesser music than the 80's music?  The only thing that might be said possibly is that music may never top the amazing success of the Scarecrow album.

In the kickin' kick-off show in South Bend last week, John and band played a very polished revision of "Hurts So Good", awesome sounding track from an amazing show!  I think it's sad that the audience could not appreciate the artistic presentation of the short info-movie!  If people  appreciate John's music, it's a package deal, please can they appreciate his life too?!

Hello Mellenheads,

For anyone attending the upcoming shows, that is the exact set list John and the band played.  The thing is, if he is promoting his CD "Other People's Stuff", why did the band and John play so many of his hits?  Also did anyone receive their CD for and when purchasing tickets?  I didn't!

Either way, the band and John rocked the Morris Theater, South Bend!  Miriam Sturm, you really play fiddle like a musician possessed!  Rock on John and band!

Racketeer, will this site let you or can you share a picture of this work?
13  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: OPM - OPS Album on: September 26, 2018, 07:02:47 pm
For those that did order tickets online, how will that free copy of his CD be made available?   I did not read that on this site, just that the CD would be made available. Are those details available yet?

"Every ticket purchased online will receive a physical copy of Mellencamp’s forthcoming album “Other People’s Stuff” set for release on November 16th by Republic Records."
14  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Suggestions / John's Art Shown on: September 19, 2018, 10:14:21 am
Hello John and Fellow Mellenheads!

Does John have any plans to showcase his paintings and other art in Chicago gallery or perhaps in a venue in North Central or Northwest Indiana?  Has he allowed any of his art to transition to prints or any of his art available for purchase online; and if so, what is the URL please?

I would love to invest in one of his pieces if approachable with a middle-class pocketbook.  Anyone know the answer to these questions?

Thanks!

Wow, will you look at JM, 66 + years and still touring, still rocking audiences, still launching new albums, exhibiting at art shows, still selling out venues, he is sure not ready for a rocking chair yet, ROCK ON JOHN! Rooty Toot Toot!
