122  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Polls / Re: Which Song From NBTT do you want to hear live? on: August 20, 2010, 03:18:59 pm
I know, I like that one a lot too.  Wish it had been on this CD for more people to hear.

It's a statue of Jesus with his arms outstretched.  It says "Saves" under the statue.  Watch the Tavis Smiley video of Save Some Time to Dream for a closeup.
124  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / Polls / Re: Which Song From NBTT do you want to hear live? on: August 20, 2010, 10:44:33 am
I've listened to NBTT a few times through now, and I'm still not fond of a few of the songs, specifically Graceful Fall, Don't forget About Me, No One Cares About Me, and Each Day Of Sorrow.  I know that it's mainly me, I just don't like that kind of music. I have been the one, all along, that was so looking forward to this CD.  I have always been impressed with the stripped down and acoustic versions of songs, I think they present the material in the way it was written to sound originally.  I also said many times that I wished that JM would take the lessons of TNM and create his own music in those styles.  For the most part he has been doing that recently and blew me away with LDLF.  I thought it was a masterpiece.  I like the concept of this new CD, the more folk type songs, but I just can't get into the Sun Studio type sound.  I am beginning to think that it has a lot to do with the other musicians used during the recording of this CD, I did like the live version of DFAM on Tavis Smiley with JM's own band much better.
That said, I absolutly ADORE "Right Behind Me", one of my favorite JM songs of all time.  I wish I was listening to a whole CD of that. I am a little disappointed that it was the only song from the Robert Johnson location that made the CD, I wish there were more with that sound.   I can just picture JM and the band, the way they play Don't Need This Body, with that plunking guitar and Mirian's fiddle, and everyone leaning in, at once, to say my favorite line in the whole CD................."NO!".  Every time I hear that part, I laugh out loud!

Thank you Patricia for that wonderful review, you had me right there with you!  What an amazing opportunity and more examples of why I just love the human being that John Mellencamp is, his honesty, spirit and compassion.  Thank you for sharing!

128  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Tech Support / Re: Question on: August 17, 2010, 11:26:45 pm
Thanks, Tony.  I seem to be liking the show unread posts method.  I just remember the lights on the old board not always working and occasionally missing new posts.

That step about mark all as read is a good idea too.  I'll do that after I finally get through all the reviews!

129  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Tech Support / Re: Question on: August 17, 2010, 03:47:55 pm
Thanks, Paula.  I figured out the shading and the blue news pretty much, and I think I got the same impression as you on those.

However, I think there needs to be a better way of backing out and getting to the new posts. In the old board, if I went to a thread, the first post I saw was the first unread one of each topic, then I'd just hit index, I think it was, to go back to the previous choices.  A lot faster.  I just think this will become a major issue with long lasting topics, like when we had 800 beautiful man pages.  (That might not be that much of a problem, lol)
130  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: No Better than this on: August 17, 2010, 03:39:53 pm
It's a good thing that John never played "For The Children" live at my shows, they would have needed a mop.  Still hits me that way, every time.
131  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Tech Support / Question on: August 17, 2010, 11:28:39 am
I was away for the past two weeks when this new board rolled out.  I've been trying to figure out my way around and I think I'm getting caught up, but I just have a question or two.

Is there an easy way of telling what posts are new so that I don't have to wade through every thread?  I've seen the blue "new" in some, but is there a way of telling that before I go into each thread?  Also, is there an index button like we had on the old board, or do I have to back arrow to get out of every thread.  That will be a problem with multiple pages.

Thanks for any info.

Interesting.  Everyone has their opinions.  Like you said one writer likes "no one cares about me" another says it's not worthy of the album.  It's one of the one that I don't like myself.  I also don't care for "a graceful fall", which the same writer raves about, both songs have the same sound as far as I'm concerned.  My favorite?  I'd take a whole album of "right behind me".

135  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: JM on Tavis Smiley show all next week! on: August 17, 2010, 10:46:34 am
This was an excellent interview and show last night.  Everyone needs to see this.  I loved when they had Elaine come out and presented her with a birthday cake, but it wasn't her birthday!
