1  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / Re: Free Download on: September 23, 2014, 12:06:17 pm
I haven't received a link yet (and yes, I checked my junk mail/spam folder)...
2  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ticket & Tour Questions / IU Auditorium pricing glitch on: September 18, 2014, 11:02:05 am
Went to buy my ticket for night 2 of Bloomington through the IU Auditorium presale this morning. Can't afford the more expensive seats, but told myself that if I could nab something in the first couple rows of the balcony I'd splurge on that (I'm short, so much past the first couple rows and I have to ask someone if there's actually anybody onstage). Pulled a seat in the front row of the balcony center section, and the price it gave was ... $0.00. Oooookay, I thought, this isn't gonna end up being a real ticket, but how can I not take a chance? Made the buy, got the confirmation, was charged $10 for fees and that was it, until 15 minutes later I got a phone call from someone at the Auditorium. They were SUPER nice about it, said they could charge my same credit card the regular ticket price AND for my inconvenience they'd waive the $10 fee (which I thought was extremely nice of them), and yes indeed I did have my front row center balcony seat. Not quite as much fun as getting a $10 ticket, but I'm happy with the outcome.

So if anybody else bought a "free" balcony seat for Feb. 4, they are probably trying to get hold of you. Smiley (This also means that if you wanted a good balcony seat, keep trying, because I'm willing to bet at least a few people say "never mind, don't want the ticket after all if it's not free.")

Ticketmaster+ tickets are resale tickets (offered via TM, usually at a hefty markup, for some shows) so it stands to reason those would not come with the download.

Thanks, TonyB! (and I want to add that I'm new around here & have been TOTALLY impressed with how helpful and on-the-ball you are with all these tour/ticket questions - really, really nice to have such a great source of help available for fans!)

I also heard back from the box office manager at the Auditorium today - they said:
Quote
Thank you for your email.  The “IUB Student ID Required” is a static text line that is produced on all tickets purchased from a Ticketmaster Outlet (i.e. mellencamp.com)  Although this text appears on your ticket, there are other attributes on your ticket that will indicate to our Guest Services staff as to if you are an IUB student or not.

Your ticket is totally valid and we cannot wait to see you in November!  If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask.

So it sounds like the TonyB's info has managed to filter down through the ranks - and it will NOT be a problem for any of us on show night. Can't wait!  Smiley

Same happened to me. I've emailed the Auditorium box office ([email protected] if you want to email them too) - haven't heard back yet, but it was after 5 pm when I emailed them and we're in between semesters here, so it may take them a couple days to get back.

I'm sure it is just a mixup with the ticket printing - the show is in no way restricted to students.

Tony,

I bought the tickets through Ticketmaster with the code, but the ticket printout says "IUB student ID required".  I didn't see a student requirement in the process, did I miss something?

Ignore it according to what Mellencamp Tour Management was able to find out. Some of the IU tickets are being sold discounted to students, THOSE will be the ones who need the ID and I think they were all $25. It was a setup error that printed that message on your tickets.

I just got my hard tickets in the mail today and they also say IUB Student ID Required. I just emailed the Auditorium box office to ask about it. Since I'm local I'm hoping I can just stop by the box office - heck, I work just up the hill and across the parking lot, so it won't be a big deal for me - and exchange them for ones that don't say that! Or, maybe the Auditorium staff will be instructed to ignore it except on the student-priced tickets. I'll let y'all know what I hear back from them. If anyone else wants to contact them, their email is [email protected].
