3  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: WRONG DATES on: November 09, 2017, 08:30:44 am
I think the October date on Wikipedia is correct. I definitely had it before November 1983, because I got it for my Birthday that year, which is in October.
4  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: WRONG DATES on: November 08, 2017, 10:08:54 am
I have a lot of those similar stories..Especially with Scarecrow and Lonesome Jubilee. Back before the days of internet to keep up with such things. As I type this, they did it again with UH-uh. Having it released 34 years ago today....It was released in October, not November.

Good to know that it is not coming from you guys. You woudl think the record company would get it right! I know it may seem trivial to some.
6  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / WRONG DATES on: November 06, 2017, 09:37:59 am
As A John Mellencamp fan since 1982, I know when all his records came out over the last 35 years. They are life events, and the soundtrack to my life. That being said, it looks bad when his own people get it wrong. There was a post on the official FB a few days ago that had Lonesome Jubilee coming out "On this day" in 1990.  This is way wrong- any John fan know LJ came out in August of 87- not October of 1990. Then, they just posted that Scarecrow was released "on this day" 32 years ago. They got the 32 years right, but again, Scarecrow was release in September of 1985, not November.  If the folks making these posts, aren't sure, or do not have the time to research, I would just refrain from making this kind of post. I would think it would be embarrassing, coming from the official FB.
7  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / What is next? on: October 16, 2017, 08:16:21 am
John doesn't stay idle for long- Now that the SCAH tour is over, what do people think is next for John? I am sure he will take a little break, but do you think he will launch another tour for Sad Clowns in the spring? Maybe Theatres again for this leg? Or perhaps he will begin working on another record.
8  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: What's up with Rolling Stone magazine?? No "Sad clowns and hillbillies" review? on: June 06, 2017, 08:40:10 am
I noticed this too. I have been a Rolling Stone subscriber since 1985, and in the past few years the quality and quantity have gone down hill. The reviews used to be one of my favorite features, but I have noticed this section has gotten smaller, and the reviews offer little insight, like they used to. I feel it isn't only John, but I have also noticed some other high profile releases not get a review.  Might be attributed to today's cherry pick songs mind set, and the decline of the actual art know as the album.
9  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Sad Clowns album reminds me of.... on: May 03, 2017, 02:09:49 pm
In a way, reminds me of Bruce Springsteen's 2014 release High Hopes- In the sense that it was too a collaboration ( Tom Morello), and a hodge podge of new songs, older unreleased songs, reworked songs, cover songs etc. Sad clowns does feature new songs, but also mixed in are covers ( Mobile blue, Early bird cafe), reworked songs ( Sugar Hill Mountain, You are blind, What kind of Man- all from other projects) and old songs finished for this ( Grandview, All Night Talk radio). Just my observations.
10  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Re: What Does "Grandview" Sound Like To You? on: May 03, 2017, 07:54:17 am
I am guessing this is from the 98 sessions for the self titled album. I say that because of Stan Lynch and Izzy Stradlin's inclusion on Grandview.  They also played on the 98 record, so it is plausible they cut this while they were there during those sessions
11  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Re: Grandview/NPR Review on: April 30, 2017, 03:58:14 pm
I noticed that too when listening to all night talk radio. I know Toby has worked with John on and off over the years- but I never thought Kenny would.  Very possible this is an old song finished up for Sad Clowns.
12  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Ask Mellencamp.com / Grandview/NPR Review on: April 25, 2017, 04:51:44 pm
I saw in the NPR review that Izzy Stadlin and Stan Lynch play on Grandview.  I know they both played on Miss Missy on the 98 self titled record. With that said I must ask if this is an older recording, dug up for this record? John does sound 20 years younger on the vocal, and does not sound like the grizzled style on Easy Target.
13  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / John Intervierws on: April 17, 2017, 10:04:35 am
You ever notice John contradicts himself sometimes in interviews?  I love the man, but this is something I've noticed over the years. Most recently it is in regards to painting.  In recent interviews he states he has always been a painter, and came to NYC in the 70's to be a a painter, and accidently became a Rockstar. I have watched some interviews from the 90's where he says he took up painting "recently" because he was tired of being a rock star, and to keep him off the streets. My memory also has him taking up painting between Big Daddy and  the Whenever we wanted album.
14  MELLENCAMP DISCUSSION / All About John / Hall of Fame exhibit on: April 17, 2017, 10:00:11 am
Just got back from the Rock and Roll hall of Fame, and John's exhibit is fantastic. If you are a fan, do yourself a favor and get there before it is gone in September.
15  MELLENCAMP.COM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements & Updates / Re: Grandview Single Released Today - Pre order Sad Clowns & Hillbillies on: February 25, 2017, 06:46:15 pm
Wow!! I stopped expecting singles like this from John.  Nothing against any of his recent work, but it has been on the somber side. He sounds like he having fun for the first time in a while- best single in 20 years or so.  I do find it weird that he used Mcbride for the female vocal on this, when he his featuring Carlene Carter on the album.
