PEOPLE MAGAZINE: FARM AID GROWS: HOW JOHN IS CONTINUING THE 31 YEAR CRUSADE FOR FAMILY FARMERS
When John Mellencamp took the stage at the first Farm Aid on Sept. 22, 1985, he had no idea that it would become an annual event.

"We thought we'd do this concert, idealistically believing that it was the right thing to do, and laws would be passed protecting people," Mellencamp, 64, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "We thought that one concert would do it. But then we found out very rapidly that we were entering into an arena that was much more complicated and filled with more political and economical factors than we could have imagined." JOHN MELLENCAMP RETURNS TO TOLEDO TO HELP HOUSE HOMELESS VETERANS
Mellencamp will return to Toledo OH's Tent City, this time as the Honorary Mayor and Grand Marshal to kick off Tent City and the Veterans Matter Walk to End Veteran Homelessness. John also wants to thank the top fundraiser by having them as his guest at his show at the Stranahan Theater, October 21st and have them meet up with him after the show.

You can walk, run or even dance with some of Toledo's most compassionate, fun-loving individuals who want to matter to the veterans still on the streets of our community, state and nation. In addition, long-time Mellencamp tour manager and 1Matters board member Harry Sandler will be presenting an October-long show of his photography, “Images of a Photographic Journey,” at the Toledo School for the Arts Porter Gallery. Harry's work is available for purchase with all proceeds being donated to support Veterans Matter’s mission to house 2,000 more veterans this year.

Thank you for your continued support!!
