Title: MG's 2 Plain Spoken Questions & 1 Huge Observation
Post by: illinoisstorm on September 27, 2014, 06:23:38 am
I'm really enjoying the new recording.  I put it at the top of JM recordings for the past ten years.  As I spend more time with this album I find myself with a few questions and one blaring observation:

Plain Spoken Question #1:
What are the words on the wall behind JM on the photo cover?

Plain Spoken Question #2
In "The Company of Cowards" Who is 'Mr. Struggle Must Go On' and 'The man in the moon'?

My big observation:
Before this album was released, I requested that JM write one love song.  A song that couples could say "that's our song", dance to, one that could be played at their wedding.  He's written many great songs, but the one song missing in his amazing catalog is a love song.  After spending a fair amount of time with "Plain Spoken" I think JM is telling us he has no love song in him.  That gear does not exist. "The Isolation of Mister" pretty much says that door is closed.

Its unfortunate because with his music and songwriting skills, he could create a really good song for this category.

We believe the cover photo just has random graffiti on a wall in Greece or Italy. John said in an interview that it was Greece.

Thanks Tony!

I'll see if I can get a translation of it.

I believe John did say in an interview that Meg took the photo and it was in Italy.

the graffiti words are definitely not greek, confirmed by a friend of mine from greece.
so you may be right with Italy.
