Title: Mellencamp Live Guitar Playing?
Post by: shakeyjrc on October 10, 2011, 10:42:14 am
Does John actually plan his Fender electric guitar live?

I think personally it is a prop, since I never hear it. Maybe its mixed really low.

I know the Martin acoustic is actually played live.

I know John has quoted that he is not that good of a guitar player.

Any other thoughts on this?

It isn't live. It is a prop. If you sit close enough at one of his shows, you can see he's really not even playing it. Yes, the acoustic is really live. Not sure if John can really play an electric guitar that well.

Not sure about the electric but the acoustic is live for sure, when he played a few notes in the wrong key in Toronto we were all witness to the "live" side of his playing.   :)

His electric is not live; most of the time he's playing the wrong chords anyway...
