Title: No Better Than This - Retail Research
Post by: TonyBClubManager on August 17, 2010, 10:34:26 am
We are looking for retail reports from fans who have visited a retail store since the release of No Better Than This. We have a short survey for you to fill out about your experience.

Complete the survey and then make a post in this thread below to confirm that you filled the survey out. Feel free to tell everyone about your experience in your post!

You can fill the survey out as many times as you want, so if you keep visiting more stores swing back in and enter it in and post below.

We don't have any amazing new autographed items, just posters and CD's for John's past albums. We appreciate any checks you can submit but please don't exhaust yourself.

We are going to pick three people out of those who post that they completed the survey and send them an autographed Mellencamp item in a few weeks!

Having trouble with the form below? Here is a link to take it online: http://www.impressity.com/Survey/sl.aspx?SurveyLinkId=ixefgkhytatjiivazlei

Went to three places today; barnes and noble, borders, and bestbuy.  Barnes & Noble it was 16.99 on the new release rack, best buy it was 9.99 also on new release rack, borders it was 13.99 on new release rack with a 16 by 20 poster!!!! really cool.  Oh AND  at barnes and noble the cd was playing in the store, Im pretty sure they were playing the whole album considering when i got there each day of sorrow was playing and then easter eve came on.  One quick comment though, Im a little afraid that his choice of album cover may hurt sales, it is really hard to find when looking in the stores, just does not stand out at all.  The poster at borders certainly helps though.

I just completed the survey, but I realized after submitting it that I was not signed in as I came in directly from my email link. Will that mess anything up as far as proof that I completed it? If so, let me know and I can go in and complete it again. :)    I got my copy of the new CD from Best Buy, WDM, IA- They had at least 20 copies of the new cd @9.99 each. The cd was in the Sunday flyer and they had a nice promo of John at the entryway to the CDs.

Make sure you post in the thread that you completed the survey when you are complete. If you are picked to be a winner we can compare your IP address from your post on the board to your survey.

I didn't want to let the survey website collect ANY personal data on you all so that is why it doesn't ask for your email or user name etc.

I submitted my form...
Located CD in Target (1 copy which I purchased). It was on sale at a great price, only $7.99!
CD also located in WalMart, (6 copies), price of $12.00.
No promo materials in either store, other than name and sale tag in Target.
Didn't look at any sale fliers, just happened to be in Target shopping.

I purchased at Target, since they seem to carry the latest popular releases.  The CD was in the new releases section.  Interesting packaging, not shrink wrapped, but a fold over type baggie with tape, and no jewel box, probably for environmental reasons, and/or theme of the release.  Paid $7.99 which is a great price, and based on JM's recent comments about digital downloads, I'm pleased that I have a pristine CD copy.  In that section there were three remaining at 8:00 P.S.T.

Just filled out my survey. Got my CD at Target on sale for $7.99, couldn't find it at first and the girl working there said she's never heard of John Mellencamp. What a crime! Found it on the new releases end aisle. Love the music. Victoria

Went to Walmart today even though I cant stand that place and they didnt even have it on the new release section, kind of crappy.  They did have it though 9.99.

Of the places Ive been seems like Best Buy (9.99) and Borders (13.99) are promoting it the best.

Target has the best price. 7.99

Barnes n Noble has the worst price. 16.99 (on sale too, ouch)

and Wal-Mart doesnt have it on the new release section, yet another reason I hate Walmart.

Next I may check out Costco tomorrow, we'll see.

I went to 2 Targets in MN today.  Willmar and Hutchinson.  Both were sold out!  Price 7.99
I did the survey the other day so now I am just going to reply here, or should we do the survey each time?  Your Opinion Tony.......
It made me smile when they sold out.  I bought a copy at Target, Shopko and Amazon on Tuesday.  I was going to buy 2 more for more Mellenheads to be, but will have to do some more searching for me and promoting for us, that means more stores to "check it out"

Did a check of my local FYE---no promo material at all hung.  CD was on the bottom shelf near floor, but the very young clerk did know who John was and where the cd was located, totally embarrassed my 20 year old, by taking a pic with my phone of the cd.

I just did a survey for the Niagara Falls, NY stores ..... it was quite funny when I went to Target, I actually could not find it at first, so I asked the electronics dept. clerk if he has John Mellencamps New CD, and he looked at me with this puzzled look on his face, and said who, and I just sort of rolled my eyes and said John Mellencamp, and then the light bulb went on, we found them !!

Completed survey-visited FYE and Starbucks, attempting to send photo of
shelf position in FYE.  Terribly placed near floor, no posters or information hung,
you would never know its there.  The clerk thought I was a nutcase taking a pic of
it, on my phone!

Looking over the submission logs I see that some of you have been having problems submitting because there are multiple submissions.

I think that may have been due to the captcha on the form, which I have now turned off. Hopefully we won't get too many spam robots submitting to the form.

K-Mart had no JM whatsoever.  they did have a new release end cap, but no JM on it, or in artist bins

Great idea! I was shocked  but happy to see any CDs at Marsh Supermarket. Figure the manager must be a fan. :)
Meijer is cutting down on all CDs since they are not selling as well. I asked the salesperson why no Mellencamp CDs and he told me that all stores are cuting down on selling all CDs. >:(
Will be checking other stores!
Have never seen John-always wanted to. Have front row seats in Fort Wayne-11/16!!!

Tony, what other promoting can be done for John.. this as posted awhile ago..   I'm in New Jersey and would be happy to help!  That includes being in the front row for tomorrows Steven Colbert (he lives in the next town to me) appearance!  All I'd need is a ticket - my bosses are not in tomorrow - AND its a full moon.. - I'm thinking this should happen! :) lol

but in all seriousness - would love to help.
