(http://media2.wishtv.com//photo/2011/11/21/mellencamp1_20111121210400_640_480.JPG) Actress Meg Ryan celebrated her 50th birthday at Downtown's Dunaway's Saturday before heading off to Clowes Memorial Hall to see beau John Mellencamp's show. Ryan, who has been Mellencamp's steady during his separation and divorce from ex Elaine Irwin, was reportedly surprised by the celebratory gathering of her girlfriends and Mellencamp's sons, Hud and Speck. Mellencamp apparently arranged for Ryan's pals, including Kathy Najimy ("Hocus Pocus"), to come to town for the soiree and his show. He also gave Ryan a pretty necklace, according to Connie McDonald, office and events manager for Dunaways. The famous couple ordered soup (tomato bisque for her and mushroom for him) and drank no alcohol with their dinner. But others in the party ordered more, including bottles of wine, and everyone had a piece of Ryan's birthday carrot cake, said McDonald. Mellencamp, who planned the party ahead of time, has dined at Dunaways previously, according to McDonald. A fireside table was chosen for the event. "It was really, really sweet, you know," she said.
